Barbour and His Friends in the Desert
Former GOP chairman Haley Barbour is an ultra wired lobbyist, no doubt about it. So can't he tell it is just a little bold for his buddies to tap Dubya's former FEMA chief and campaign manager to form a new company which will help clients win some of the billions intended to help rebuild Iraq?
Contrast the K Street approach of New Bridge Strategies with the muddy boots of Kyle's schools. Lt. Kyle Barden is an Army Ranger on the ground near Kirkuk trying to pull together school supplies for Iraqi kids. His family and friends send him what they can and Barden gives it all away.
He'll never make partner that way.

Well, Barbour himself is running for Governor of Mississippi, a state not known for excessive concern with ethics or appearances. As for his partners, I'm sure they would be strongly discouraged from pursuing the New Bridge venture if the White House thought it would be politically embarrassing for the President. In the absence of such a calculation Karl Rove may be just as glad to have Allbaugh out of the way during the 2004 campaign.
