In case you were in a good mood today, The Guardian is reporting that the despicable House of Saud is actively considering acquiring a nuclear arsenal. (Link via Kevin Drum.)

As long as those are nuclear suppositories, I see no problem.

Callahan: "Here's my badge. It's a six pointed suppository."

    Cheif of Police: "How's that?"

Callahan: "Stick it up your ass!"

They just might end up getting the bomb, only not the way they're thinking.

  3. John Thacker   22 years ago

This is exactly what I would expect the Saudis to consider given the US thinking about weakening the alliance with Saudia Arabia. Of course, I support stopping the alliance with those bastards (as does Matt), but at the same time, this is a consequence I fully envisioned.

You're right. So why not just invade that theocratic cesspool while we can and seize their wretched oil? The Saudi military proved utterly incompetent in the limited amount of fighting that they did during the Gulf War, and it's not like we have to worry about Saddam anymore.

Oh, I forgot, the Saudis have managed to buy out and/or gain the favor of almost every politician, lobbyist, defense contractor, or State Department careerist worth a damn inside the beltway. Including Bush, Bush Sr., Cheney, Powell, Armitage and Rice.

Prediction: Israel's nuclear capabilities will become more of an issue than Saudi Arabia's.

  6. Buck   22 years ago

They can't make it, but they might buy it. It would not surprise me if they buy it from Israel.
In return for a non-aggression pact.

We sold arms to IRAN.... and Saudi does use the same stuff as Israel (F-15s ... M-16s etc.)

calm down I am only kidding (I hope)

  7. John Thacker   22 years ago

Well, we've removed our troops from Saudi Arabia already. And I agree, Iraq gives us an excellent staging point from which to attack Saudi Arabia. In that way, the current Administration has made it MUCH easier to quit the Saudi alliance and, indeed, to attack the Saudis. That's progress, to me.

However, the case is, currently, not strong enough to justify a preemptive strike in the case of Saudi Arabia. I certainly hope we have a plan about how we would, though.

  8. John Thacker   22 years ago

Another discussion of the Saudis by Jim Hoagland here.

I think, and this is only my opinion, but I think that there are some serious clandestine work already in progress in the Saudi kingdom to end the status quo.

Bottom line is that is us and Israel against the world for all intents and purposes. Whoever has a proactive anti-semitism engrained in their culture, we will eventually go to war with.

    Buck,

Interesting concept. How's THAT for commerce mending fences between enemies?

  11. Peggie   22 years ago

I pulled up this article while doing a search for 'wahabbi'. There is no mention of that sect in the article--is it assumed that the most violent/aggressive ideas originate with wahabbi islamic fundamentalists?

The ARABS got no balls like THE SOMALIANS & NORTH VIETNAMESE.They are willing TO DIE rather then being ruled by WHITES.
