Whoopi's Shameful Habit
The campaign against the public display of smoking, which has attacked smoking in parks, on stage, and in movies, has now zeroed in on Whoopi Goldberg's new sitcom, in which she portrays a "chain-smoking innkeeper." The show "flies in the face of a prime-time trend," the Los Angeles Times reports. "The American Lung Assn. just last month applauded television networks and producers for increasingly snuffing out smoking scenes on network TV."
Goldberg sees the complaints about her character's cigarette habit as a positive sign. It is "extraordinary when you have an interracial couple in the show, and the thing that people are freaking about is that I'm smoking," she says. "I love it."

She's loving any publicity she can get before this thing comes to rest at the bottom of the sea ... next to the New Hollywood Squares.
A clip of the show that is often played by the media to illustrate Whoopi's "smoking obsession," also features a young libertarian/objectivist actor named Steven Schub. When I talked to him recently he found it hilarious that the only 4 lines he ever says on the show are used as vindication for the anti-smoking crowd.

Actually that did pretty well, whatever your aesthetic objections. Wish I had the proceeds.

So what were those 4 lines, Anon?
Why keep us in suspense?
The campaign against the public display of gay sex, which has attacked gay sex in parks, on stage, and in movies, has now zeroed in on the new sitcom, in which gays are going after straights.
Outrageous!
But interracial couples don't impact my health. Why is Whoopie such a moron? Why is this old, ugly, untalented wacko on TV, anyway?
Rachel, Say what you want to say. whoopi is the girl. she deserves to be on tv more than most of the leading prime time females
