The Day the Music Died

Pop's Sunset Grill in Nokomis, Florida, offered live music for more than 30 years. Then Larry Johnson built a house next door. From 1993 to 2002, there were just three noise complaints against Pop's. Since April, there have been seven complaints, all from Johnson. Following Johnson's repeated complaints, zoning officials found that Pop's was not zoned for live music and ordered the club to stop concerts. Business has since dropped 40 percent.
