Well, moribund, anyway. Despite cleverly changing its name from the Orwellian "Total Information Awareness" to the soothing "Terrorism Information Awareness" and ditching a logo that I can only assume was deliberately designed to freak out conspiracy theorists, TIA may be toast. Wired News reports that the newly released Senate appropriations bill provides no funding for you to be pushed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered

Yeah, it sez "No funds appropriated or otherwise made available to the Department of Defense ... or to any other department, agency or element of the Federal Government, may be obligated or expended on research and development on the Terrorism Information Awareness program."
So they change the name again? "We didn't spend funds on the TIA program. It's now called the TIA project." Or maybe put it on the black budget with the secret spy planes and the like?
Sometimes "we the people" win, too.
