That’s funny. Seems to me that there’s a lot of conservative and libertarian blogs. OK, maybe not a lot of conservative or libertarian _candidates_ blogging, but a lot of bloggers seem to be conservative or libertarian.

A few years ago I campaigned for Tom Campbell, a libertarian-style Republican running against Dianne Feinstein for US Senate. He had served in the House and won an award for reluctance to spend taxpayer money. Every day or two he would answer e-mails and post the answers on his web page. (Even my FDR Democrat grandparents said “Well, if he’s careful about spending money that must be a good thing!”)

Needless to say, he got stomped by Feinstein, alas.

Reading Lessig’s site, I’m not so sure that he deserves a positive referral from H+R. Down a few items from his Dean announcement is a scaremongering, sneering response to a piece by Declan McCullagh on cable regulation. Lessig doesn’t even try to seriously address the idea of a principled opposition to government regulation; he dismisses it out of hand as something that “no one serious” believes. Yech.
