When officials in Glassport, Pennsylvania, decided to renovate their city council chamber, they noticed something odd about the flag on display. It had just 48 stars. Apparently, the city didn't replace the old flag in 1959, when Alaska joined the United States, or in 1960, when Hawaii signed up. It has now installed a new 50-star flag.
