Debbie Schlussel has some disturbing quotes from Issa here concerning Hezbollah. The IRNA isn't exactly the WaPo, and I'd like to hear his side of it.

As for Bustamante, I don't consider the N-word slip-up as big an issue as something else which can't be named: his former membership in Mecha. See http://www.americanpatrol.com/REFERENCE/Bustamante-Cruz.html and http://www.americanpatrol.com/MECHA/mecha991030.html for more information. I present those links with a slight bit of reservation, but at least they're a good collection of easily verifiable facts. Also see "El Plan de Aztlan" (the "A" in Mecha is for Aztlan) here: http://clnet.ucr.edu/research/docs/struggle/aztlan.htm

    Lone Wacko-

I read the stuff about Issa and Hezbollah. If indeed it's true, then by Murphy's Law of California Politics (MLOCP), Issa will be the best-funded and best-known challenger against Davis in the recall election. It was bad enough when we got Dumb-Right-Winger Bill Simon vs. Sleazy and Incompetent Lefty Gray Davis. Now we'll get Jihad Darrell vs. Sleazy and Incompetent Lefty Gray Davis. Great...

Even if you don't believe in MLOCP, there's no denying that the California GOP is more suicidal than a Kamikaze pilot who just got dumped by his girlfriend. That alone should ensure that Jihad Darrell will be the challenger that the state GOP falls in line behind.

I'd vote for a trained porpoise if it promised not to screw things up as badly as Davis...

"If indeed it's true, then by Murphy's Law of California Politics (MLOCP), Issa will be the best-funded and best-known challenger against Davis in the recall election."

I don't believe that Davis can even be on the ballot for governor at the time of the recall vote, so they'll be no Davis vs. anybody. If he gets recalled, he's out, and whoever wins the vote out of the pack of challengers is in.

Here's Issa's side of it. As suspected, IRNA misquoted him.

Actually, I'd like to recall the legislature.

Good point. I guess I meant that, if there's only one serious contender among the potential replacements, then the recall becomes a de facto Davis vs. contender. Everybody who votes will know that if the recall succeeds, the most likely outcome will be the #1 contender assuming the governorship, so the question most voters will ask themselves is "Is it better to keep Davis or replace him with [name of contender]?"
