Ad designer Grandison Taber met garbage man Larry Heyes and decided the man would be perfect for a campaign to foster civic pride in New Bedford, Massachusetts. The meeting resulted in a full-page ad in the New Bedford Standard-Times featuring Larry Heyes rhapsodizing about the historic whaling city. But after the ad came out, someone contacted the paper about the city's new public face. It turns out that Heyes is a convicted child molester. Taber says he'll try to be more careful in selecting the city's next spokesperson.
