No public policy. Just a really cool ad in service of a selling a car. Ain't capitalism great?!

I've never been a fan of station wagons, and that ad defies the laws of motion, gravity, and thermodynamics on multiple occassions, but I have to admit that it's still pretty damn cool.

I read an indepth article on the ad and what you see is the real deal. According to the article I read it took several hundred takes and they only spliced the film or video tape at one point. The reason for the splice was due to the fact that the domino effect was too large for the stage and thus had to be done in two parts, otherwise there are no computer animations or trick photography.

Even the tires which role up hill, which seem to defy the laws of physics have weights placed inside to make the wheels role up hill.

The following website has a short article on the making.

That's the coolest car ad I think I've ever seen!

  5. Jeff Smith   22 years ago

Damn that's cool. Made my day.

    Thanks.

    You should see their video.

Its really amazing. It goes on and on.

Worth the wait on a dialup.

From an engineering standpoint, I didn't see anything that violated thermodynamics or motion or anything else (ok, maybe the tires going uphill, but even those made sense in terms of momentum conservation).

    Pretty darned cool.

    Yes indeedee!
