Protesting Mr. Rogers

|

This past weekend, Mr. Rogers' friends and family held a public tribute to our late television neighbor. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the event attracted around six picketers from the Westboro Baptist Church, who were there "to protest what they called Rogers' failure to condemn homosexuality. The group, which included an 8-year-old girl, held signs expressing their hatred of gays and, while standing on a torn American flag, their hatred of America."

The protest attracted about 150 counterdemonstrators, drawn not just from the gay community but from peace groups. No, I'm not sure what peace has to do with this. All I know is what I read in the paper.
