The Final Countdown

MSNBC has added a little "deadline" ticker to its broadcast. It tells me that Saddam has just under 35 hours to hit the bricks. I wonder when Saddam has less than an hour if MSNBC will add seconds to the ticker, then maybe tenths of seconds like an NBA game.

And once the deadline passes does the ticker go away or do we get a "deadline plus" ticker? Whatever happens, the theme music for the ticker is a no brainer.

  1. They should do like on “24.” Beep! BEEP! Beep! BEEP! Beep! BEEP!

  2. Dammit…I spent the better part of the last 15 years or so trying to REMOVE songs like that from my brain…and now it’s lodged back in there.

  3. God, I haven’t felt this giddy since that episode of M*A*S*H featuring the clock.

  4. I think they should have the Game Timer showing the Years/Months/Days since Saddam accepted the first Security Council resolution back in 1991 (the one giving him 15 days to destroy his WMD). That 4300 days or so, should put things in perspective with respect to this “mad rush” to war.

And the Final Period timer showing 35 or whatever hours remaining in this “last and final” episode

  5. Dee doo dee doo, dee doo deeee
Dee doo dee doo, dit, dit dit dit di-doo

  6. I’ll take Tyrannical Camel-Humpers for 200, Alex.

OK, make sure you phrase your answer in the form of a question.

  7. I think the Family Feud would be more appropriate for this game.
