I hope it's unfounded, but my fear is that Saddam is gonna launch bio-laced SCUDS and such at Israel long before the 48 hrs is up---unless he's still as clueless as he has been in the past and actually believes he can win the war.

I'd almost hope for your bio-missiles contingency, since odds are that an inaccurate missile aimed at a well-defended target, carrying an undertested warhead with a fairly stale cargo would do little or no damage. Mr. Hussein has never managed to get bang for the buck (or ton) even on par with explosives from his chemical weapons, and biologicals are rather trickier.

But I suspect it's more likely that Mr. Hussein will opt for weapons of mass confusion, holding on to his notional moral high ground and working on whatever he has in store for those US army uniforms that he supposedly has had made. That would be rather more in character for the world's current leading expert at sowing confusion and discord.

I think there's a good chance Saddam will walk away now. He probably understands that fighting this time is suicide. He's much more the power-mad type of madman, and not so much a raving lunatic.

A long vacation in Libya, followed by plans to overthrow Qadaffi that never amount to anything, perhaps.

I wouldn't put this sort of military schanagans past the Dems either. The current corp of hard anti-war lefties are really in this to be against Dubbya as opposed to be for pacifism. If Algore were running this show I don't doubt for an instant the likes of Susan Sarandon and Charlie Scheen would be keeping their mouths shut and it would be the right-wingers who would be criticizing the present administration. (Not on the grounds that the US is attacking Iraq, but that those wussy liberals will screw it up.) Remeber that Hillbilly Clinton was talking up war with Saddam when he was caught with his pants down... literally.

Still... Geting rid of Dubbya would is nice to think about.
