Man of Honor

At least one thing appears to have improved since the days of Admiral Boorda. Newly-named Commandant of the Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Michael W. Hagee has volunteered—apparently without prompting—that he cannot provide documentation for three of his medals, and will stop wearing them. There is little reason to believe Hagee didn't actually earn the decorations; he just can't find documentation for them: One is from the extinct South Vietnamese government; another was a unit citation for a force under his command in Somalia, but his name wasn't included in the citation records. Would that everybody in government were so punctilious. Except the IRS, of course.
