Ride the Dragon Express
The first time I heard about these cheap Chinatown bus lines ($15 DC-NY, for example, wowsah), a blogger (was it Evan McElravy?) was speculating that with prices that low, they had to be transporting something OTHER than people, if you catch my drift. Whatever they're doing, I'm glad someone's underselling Greyhound. I'm going to try out one of these services while I'm back east over X-mas, for a cheapy (if somewhat sketchy) adventure. Actually, if anyone has done the DC-NY route, I'd love tips on how to Get on the Bus…

How long before Greyhound lobbyists get to work putting them out of business via regulation or legislation? When you can't compete, you legislate...
There's some info on the Chinatown busses between WashDC and NYC at

I think that the cross Chinatown lines are great. They allow an inexpensive commute between major cities along the east coast. Greyhound has become very outdated in terms of cost. A RT Buss fare from DC-NYC cost as much as roundtrip airfare it's ridiculous and the train is even more expensive. These Cross Chinatown lines make it easy and inexpensive to get around. And good for them that they are not money hungry dogs like Greyhound that over charges for a mediocre ride at airline prices.
Pick it up at 88 Palace in the Heart of Chinatown (right of East Broadway). Buses run every hour.
