TIPS, We hardly knew ye.
Reason Online has both derided and mocked the Justice Department's plans to create a new citizen-informant program called Operation: TIPS. With the recently passed Homeland Security Act prohibiting implementation of the program, the Web page DOJ had set up for the program has gone down an Orwellian Memory Hole -- appropriate, really. For those who don't want to forget – and showing how widespread computer use can be an effective weapon against tyranny and not just a tool for it – you can find the old web page cached here.
