"Our writers all support full legal equality and social respect for gays and lesbians, and they also embrace the American traditions of market economics, unfettered debate and limited government," says Paul Varnell, editor of The Independent Gay Forum Web site (www.indegayforum.org), launched this past summer. "What unites [us] is the feeling that the old debate between the gay left and anti-gay right is exhausted." Recent contributors to the site include REASON authors Walter Olson, Jonathan Rauch, Rob Blanchard, and Norah Vincent. Recent topics include how liberalized concealed-carry laws might help stop gay bashing, and the unintended consequences of hate crime legislation.
