Private Operators

Who needs city workers? Not city government, it seems. Privatization 1992, a Reason Foundation study of privatization around the world, found that most U.S. cities have privatized at least one municipal service. For their efforts, the cities usually report better service at lower prices. Newark, New Jersey, for example, has privatized more of its city services than any other city in the Northeast. Total savings to taxpayers: over $1 million annually.
