Brickbat: Civics Lesson
A judge has found former Toronto teacher Mary Gowans not guilty of sexual assault and sexual interference. Gowans had been charged with having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student. But Judge John McMahon said there were "significant and troubling" inconsistencies in the boy's testimony. Gowans says the charges destroyed her life, and she still faces a disciplinary hearing from the Ontario College of Teachers. A representative of that agency told the press that the burden of proof in a disciplinary hearing is not as high as it is in a court.

There needs to be a double standard applied here. Even if she was guilty, anyone who was a teenage boy knows there virtually can be no negative psychological effects of doing it with a hot teacher. That hoser college of teachers have to take that FACT into account.

Well, we do usually only hear about the ones who complain. There could be a lot more out there.

No doubt there is. In thinking about it, a 40ish yo woman who takes a 15 yo to bed is exercising bad judgement already, so it is no surprise that they sometimes also pick the wrong 15 yo.
Still, I have to shake my head at what a weenie that kid is.

Yeah, I don't get it. It's not like he was 10. At 15, if I didn't want to do something, I wouldn't, and if you tried to make me, you'd be in deep shit. If I were that kid, I'd be happy.
