The Revolution Is Not Over
A few days after Tunisian protesters ousted an unpopular interim prime minister, Egyptian demonstrators have done the same thing:
[Prime Minister Ahmed] Shafiq’s resignation was one of several demands protesters said had to be met by the military and comes one day before a planned major demonstration in Tahrir Square to call for the removal all Mubarak-era ministers, including Mr. Shafiq and Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Other demands which have yet to be met include an end to Egypt’s decades-old state of emergency, the dismantling of the country’s feared state security service, and the release of political prisoners jailed during the 30-year tenure of former President Mubarak....
Mr. Shafiq has been heavily criticized over the last two weeks, and several hundred protesters have camped out in Tahrir Square since Saturday calling for his removal.

God bless those protesters for determining the nation's leadership for it. Voting takes too long and you don't get to smash stuff.
Egypt’s transitional military government, which has ruled since the resignation of President Hosni Mubarak on February 11, announced its decision to replace Mr. Shafiq on a Facebook page.

I wonder if the housecleaning will include Zahi Hawass, the minister of antiquities. Hawass is an interesting dude. I've met him a couple of times -- quite charismatic, and a real publicity hound. But he really seems to care about the antiquities of his country. He does have a very bizarre theory, though -- he believes Egypt should have international copyright control over the commercial production of images and reproductions of antiquities such as the pyramids. Good luck with that. (Well, not really.)

New form of government: protestocracy, or rule by protesters.

Should be a transitional phase, to either:
(1) A government with some minimal legitimacy, or
(2) A government so savage that protesting is stomped into the mud.
Time will tell!
