It's far easier to find a self-styled libertarian
claiming direct ideological influence from a work of imaginative
literature than to find a conservative doing the same, despite
their pretentions as defenders of the Western canon of art and
creativity, and despite conservative intellectual godfather Russell
Kirk's constant calls on the "moral imagination" allegedly sparked
and sharpened by literature. Senior Editor Brian Doherty explores
