    Well, much as I hate the rampant statism here in WA, I am not surprised to see their website on the list.

    sage, if you think WA has rampant statism, you better not ever move to NY, NY, MA, etc. Because WA is pretty fucking good compared to them.

  • Fist of Etiquette||

    I can see right through this list.

  • DADIODADDY||

    WHERE ARE ALL THE FEDERAL WEBSITES?

  • A.G. Pym||

    Sage - you must live on the other side of the cascade curtain from me. While eastern WA city governments are moving towards full linkup with Olympia, I don't really feel the statism over here as I do in the Puget Sound Metroplex (or its suburb, Spokane).

    Let me know when Walla Walla gets its own branch of the Stasi.

  • sage||

    I think they were the ones that helped pass the most restrictive smoking laws in the country. You cannot smoke indoors in any business, nor within 25 feet of the doorway.

  • sage||

    Except tribal casinos, of course. Of course!

  • BakedPenguin||

    Well, not good. But if that's the worst thing you can say about a place...

  • sage||

    You guys are right, I could be in a worse place. There are still improvements to be made, however.

  • sage||

    Yeah, I'm west of the sound. I can hear our legislators drooling over the sales tax increase from here. It's for the children, you know.

    Epi, I moved here from Alaska. Almost anyplace is statist compared to there.

    Where are you, by the way? In Seattle?

  • sage||

    Kitsap county. No jokes, please. I have all my teeth.

  • ||

    Do you have all your tee...whoops.

    Well, if you're going to be in the city some time, send me an email (though realize I'm so busy lately I've been bad about checking that account).

  • sage||

    Cool, Epi. If I think of it when I get home I'll send you one.

    Don't know when I'll make it to Seattle next. I take the Edmonds ferry every day, though.

    Good to know that the Hillsborough County School Board is doing something right.

    I wonder how these correlate with states with liberal government-in-the-sunshine laws? Florida is one of the leading states in that regard, not sure how the other states fall out.

  • ||

    I'm not surprised to see Cobb County, Georgia on the list. You have to figure that The Big Boss Man had whipped that county into shape long ago.

  • Joe M||

    Woohoo Harris County. That's where I live.

  • ||

    Woo hoo! Davis County School District (where my kids attend school).

  • T||

    Harris County, Texas; incompetent, but transparent! I'm so glad I moved to Montgomery County.

    Of course, I question their methodology. If the organization isn't putting everything on the web, how would they know?

  • Stormy Dragon||

    Pennsylvania has a very nice DMV website, in that it generally allows you to avoid ever having to actually go to the DMV.

    The list is very useful. I wonder how these correlate with states with liberal government-in-the-sunshine laws? Florida is one of the leading states in that regard, not sure how the other states fall out.
