Sometimes i have nightmares about meeting the HyR commentariat in real life, and now Chip Bok goes and draws them

  • Whiterun Guard| |

For someone who lives somewhere where every other single living thing has a single minded and well backed desire to kill you, your nightmares seem to be relatively tame!

  • | |

Those were my nightmares, but therapy and a good strong cricket bat have put paid to them.

  • Whiterun Guard| |

Ah, cricket bats, is there anything they can't do?

Ian Faith sure had that right.

  • | |

Nothing that a good Bumpaddle can't solve.

  • | |

Where do you live IFH? WG's comment got me curious.

  • Almanian's Evil Twin| |

It lives in our nightmares and the crevices of our memories we don't want to visit again.

  • | |

...also known as Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It's not really that dangerous. Funnel web spiders are the main (serious) venomous danger in the city. Where I grew up (inland) there's a lot of grassland in the suburbs and you'd always have to watch out for brown snakes, which are apparently the the second most venomous land snake. OTOH the anti-venene is pretty good

You got some great pipe bands in Australia, too. Vic Police, Western Australia Police - couple of my friends played with Victoria when they won the World Championship.

Plus - spiders, snakes and crocs. KRIKEY!

  • | |

Nice to hear that! At the Mofo music festival this year there was an awesome set by the City of Hobart and Tasmania Police pipe bands playing a drone composition by David Watson. Just mesmerising. But their discipline and precision were really beautiful too.

  • LTC(ret) John| |

    "playing a drone composition"

    Hellfire Missile Suite 3#?

  • | |

I'm imagining a bagpipe corps consisting only of drones running at changing throttle settings to create music, kind of like how you can program an F1 car to play a song. Main theme: Ride of the Valkyries?

Ah. Australia is one of the few places I havent been to.
Most of the places I have been I didnt want to see. Australia is one I want to see but havent.

I know you have some nasty critters there but they seem fewer than the ones here in Louisiana.

  • | |

We gave a lot of venomous animals and predators, but you have to make a bit of an effort to run across many of them. The (less problematic but still genuine) problems for Sydneysiders are redback spiders and jellyfish. Oh, and sharks.

  • Pro Libertate| |

    Or maybe it's Australia.

  • Pro Libertate| |

Sounds like Australia. Everything is lethal there. Harrison's Deathworld was probably written after a trip there.

  • Restoras| |

And let's not forget our own Lord Humungous.

  • Fist of Etiquette| |

Political cartoonists have no place being elitist. And Donna's dad from That 70's Show sure let himself go.

  • | |

I said the same thing about Powder when I watched That 70s Show

  • Whiterun Guard| |

Why is Babs dressed like a slut and why does she have Snookie tattooed over her chest? Is Chip Bok helping develop the script for Get the Fockers Out of Here: The Fockers go to Europe ?

  • Restoras| |

    Bok sucks.

  • | |

I didn't think cartoon butt crack could be grosser than the real thing.

  • | |

Good God, so Bok does have some talent!

  • | |

I barely want to watch Stacy and Clinton tell people what not to wear, what makes TLC think I want to watch them discuss politics?

  • Almanian's Evil Twin| |

    I don't get it.

I hope everyone has a shitty day, gets run over by a truck and tastes your own blood before you die in agony. Happy Friday, Reasonoids.

  • H. Reardon| |

    'An your point is...?'

The exact question I ask after I read each of Bok's cartoons.

  • LTC(ret) John| |

OK, that does it for today folks, the best comment has already been posted. Move along, show is ovah!

  • | |

Romney is out of touch with the hoi polloi? As opposed to his opponent who is out of touch with reality?

  • sarcasmic| |

    Definitely needs more labels.

  • Tim| |

    Those are Obama voters?

  • SIV| |

    Hemp activists

  • Loki| |

    Needs moar labels.

Other than Snookie, who in Chip Bok's world has apparently tattooed her name across her chest (which I'm sure she finds helpful in remembering her name), I have no idea who the other people are supposed to be. I'm assuming the fat dude with the giant soda and baseball cap is Michael Moore, but who's the dude with the plumber's crack? Is that Joe the Plumber?

  • Fatty Bolger| |

    Eminem

  • Mongo| |

Translation of Snookie's swearing: "Star. Skullampersandcrossbones. Saturn."

  • Lisa| |

Chip Bok could have made his point better by depicting this guy...
