NYPD Union Sues City Council over Stop-and-Frisk Law

Follows challenge by Bloomberg

|

A union for New York City Police Department officers sued the city council in New York state court in Manhattan today, challenging a law that allows citizens to bring lawsuits against police for racial profiling.

The court action follows a similar challenge filed by New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg last month, and a federal court ruling that New York City police have engaged in conduct during so-called stop-and-frisks that is tantamount to racial profiling.
