A jury has awarded $8.8 million to the family of a robber who was shot and killed by a police officer west of Los Angeles in Culver City.

The Los Angeles Times says a federal jury issued the verdict on Wednesday.

Twenty-seven-year-old Lejoy Grissom was killed three years ago after an officer pulled over his car in a parking lot because he suspected Grissom had robbed a local electronics store.
