Oh, but look at the ngram for "the." That word must be in real trouble.
Facially challenged? They used to just call us ugly.
I think the graph reflects an upswing with the creation of a category of facial challenges, and then a downswing with the realization that they often blend into as-applied challenges — so that the phrase has become less useful and thus less common.
