"Fear in My Heart and Gunfire All Around": The Song of the Ukrainian Tank Soldiers
I came across this one a few days ago, though it was originally posted on Feb. 27, in the first days of the war; many thanks to Iryna Onyshchenko for the translation (here are the Ukrainian lyrics, and also what appears to be the original Facebook post with the video). As you can see, the production values are minimal, but I think that here that makes the song more effective. I think the reference to "fear" rather than fearlessness makes it more effective, too.
Note also that the introduction and closing are in Russian; for many patriotic Ukrainians, Russian is their native language, and much of the resistance to Russia has been carried on in Russian. I'm still trying to learn the name of the author, who is apparently also the one singing the song, and a tank soldier in Kharkiv; if I learn it, I'll post it.
[Introduction, in Russian:] [Inaudible.] Well, we found a guitar here, and so you don't get upset, here's a song from the Ukrainian tank soldiers.
[In Ukrainian:]
The dark nights are disturbed by flashes of light,
Fear in my heart and gunfire all around,
We must move forward, entering the battle,
Ukraine, we are your defenders.
[Refrain:]
Forward for Ukraine, for our only mother,
For our families who are waiting for us,
We will go into battle,
We will stand as a wall,
We will defend and save you.Smoke and a cloud of gunpowder surrounds us,
The crack of machine guns and the deadly whistle of bullets,
Those, whose blood spilled here, we won't forget you,
You'll live forever in our hearts.[Refrain]
[Closing, in Russian:] [Inaudible.] OK, back to the basement.

Utility prompts the question, why is Putin still alive? Why are we allowing a $trillion in breakage and tens of thousands of working people killed, and not solving the problem immediately?
Go kill himself if you're so brave.
You mean, do it myself? Ever since 8000 BC we have had specialization of jobs. I could learn to repair the ice maker in my fridge over many days and do a poor job. Or I could hire a guy who does that full time, and is excellent. That was the purpose of the invention of money.
The government officials hired for the utilitarian task can easily and quickly do it. They are totally hobbled by the lawyer internal enemy who always sides with, protect, privileges, and empowers evil. Why? Because evil is a good client.
sorry, laughing again at the Will Smith/Chris Rock (still think he looks like Sadam's sons) "Slap heard round the world"
meant to say, "Go kill him yourself, if you're so brave"
and oh yeah, ask JFK how attempting to kill Castro worked out.
Frank "Peace!"
Kennedy had the right idea. Cuba would have been a wealthy paradise without the thieving Mafia of the Castros. Kennedy did not have the Boeing Ghost Bat.
The Castro family has a $billion in Swiss banks, while everyone in Cuba is thin as a rail.
Frankie. What are you, a child? That looked like a movie knockout blow. Chris did not even touch his cheek in pain. Chris is smart enough to have set that up, to save the terrible Award Show. He did well. Last year, it was 10 million, this year, 14 million, still well below the customary 20 million. Then, Will is an Academy Award winning actor. He has the skill to cry on cue, as he did immediately later. Chris should promise a grudge match in 2023 to restore the 20 million audience.
David, what are you, an Idiot? (and Dyslexic apparently).
OK, stupid question, but where did I say I thought it was real? Oh, you mean where I said Clint Eastwood was a San Fran-Sissy-Co Detective, Tom Cruise flew F-14's, and Tom Hanks Commanded Apollo 13???
It was about as "Real" as Jerry Lawler's slapping Andy Kauffman in 1982 (the nerve of Andy! A Man Wrestling Women (he was born 40 years too soon)
