You Win Some ….
An amusing gag, so I thought I'd pass it along (thanks to InstaPundit for the pointer).
I'd add that, while I congratulate Lt. Gov.-elect Winsome Sears, and appreciate her photo, "winsome" ("generally pleasing and engaging often because of a childlike charm and innocence") doesn't quite describe it …. Then again, she was in the Marine Corps (a not generally winsome service), so she's probably had to confront that tension already.

You have to measure these things in context. She's amazingly winsome for a Marine.
False.
Marines are not allowed to be winsome.
(The Office humor, for those not aware).
The photo tells the story: Winsome, but armed!
I doubt she's suitable for a Senate run, though.
She doesn't look very collegial 🙂
Look what collegiality got us! 🙂
The modern definition is as you say, but she was named in '64, and as recently as '70 defined as "WinningÂą; charming; engaging." Derived from older forms of wynn, joy + -sum, characterized by
Signed,
A Winsome fan, hoping for new directions in the next few years.
1. Even "winnning" is being lost: Attractive; charming: a winning personality; a winning smile.
Even more amusing were all of the usual suspects trying to claim that the same voters who elected VA's first black female Lt. Gov. are a bunch of white supremacists.
Stop ignoring the science!
"Republicans with an individualist message—benefit electorally from higher levels of racial resentment in the electorate"

such voters respond to partisan and ideological cues about the preferences of black candidates
So...what pretty much all voters do with regard to pretty much all candidates.
It's almost like the "racist" voters actually look at a candidate's ideology and character, and ignore their race. Who knew?
Paywalled, but I suspect that the definition of "racial resentment" is doing all the work.
So:
I knew it! Ayn Rand was secretly a Klansman!
I'll admit I am proud of both our new Virginia Lieutenant Governor and our past Governors His Excellency Douglas Wilder and His Excellency Mark Warner (despite the facts that both of the latter cis-males are of the "D" brand). Jefferson described Virginia (and in particular, the location of his summer home) as "a most interesting spot" and I agree.
In one Virginia county, itself far larger in area than our nation's capitol, 23 registered voters failed to take action to quash the virus -- the Biden/Northam/Social-Democrat scourge -- that plagues us. I take issue with these anti-vaxxers: we should all inoculate ourselves against the Progressive infection!
Seriously, when an infection -- be it CoViD or Biden -- afflicts us, aren't we all now compelled to protect both ourselves and our hesitant brethren? Why not? What principle limits action for the "public health"?
Everyone in this life has the opportunity to win. I think online gambling is cool. I know a lot of the best games of chance for consoles because I work directly with this ( https://www.yubigeek.com/les-meilleurs-jeux-de-hasard-pour-consoles ) and therefore I can boast of such knowledge. It's not hard for me to share this with you too if you're interested.
How does one properly address a female Marine Corps veteran holding a long gun? Is "Ma'am" proper?
Anyway, I'd love to see her walk onto the floor of the legislature armed and wearing a bandolier, like Rambo or Chewbacca.
