Bronx trash with Bronx manners. Insufferable. When she speaks, you want to bang your head to ease the pain.
An authoritarian nut says what?
Inspiring life story. Though it shows how hard it is for women to become professional successes. Sotomayor never married, never had her own family. She had to dedicate herself to her career. As someone put it, “Sitting home alone with her bulging resume.” There are a number of women in the legal field who are similar.
Unwise Latina. Worst justice since Brennan.
“Sotomayor never married, never had her own family.”
Not true
“On August 14, 1976, just after graduating from Princeton, Sotomayor married Kevin Edward Noonan, whom she had dated since high school,[8][12] in a small chapel at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York. … Sotomayor and Noonan divorced amicably in 1983;[65] they did not have children.[20] She has said that the pressures of her working life were a contributing factor, but not the major factor, in the breakup.”
Her lack of a family was a choice, it was not required to get professional success. Plenty of women have “pressures of her working life” yet are married with children.
Should be after capt crisis comment.
Ok I was wrong but . . . how often does a man return to the single life in order to advance his career?
Give it a rest. Not everything is about sexism.
O’Connor and Ginsburg were married for decades until widowed and had children. They went to law school in the 1950s when it was much, much rarer than the late 1970s.
Often. Men face the same choices, without your in-group cheerleading a personal decision as something other: ‘She had to dedicate herself to her career.’ She ‘had’ to do nothing.
If it were not for grievance-consumed White males, there would be no Volokh Conspiracy.
Her super aggressiveness, Bronx nastiness was likely the factor in the breakup. I can’t stand more than 5 minutes of her hate filled speech. Imagine being stuck in a house with such a nasty person. Waking nightmare. She should take a speech course to get rid of that horrifying Bronx accent. Even if you completely agree with her, she opens her mouth, you want to argue.
A word is needed for the antonym to charisma. It applies to this Justice.
I’m just here to read all the wise comments.
It’s about what you’d expect from an almost all male site with almost all male commenters. Lots of misogyny and absolute tone deafness to any idea that women may have it harder than men.
CNN: Meteor hurtling toward earth. Women to be hit hardest.
Credit where credit is due. For all her faults at least the Dems are smart enough to consistently nominate justices who remain loyal and committed partisans actually working to advance their ideology rather than immediately flipping to the opposition or clinging to some sad idealistic belief that both sides care about maintaining the Consitution above agendas. .
Nailed it!
You guys really haven’t figured out by now that losing the culture war — being on the diminishing fringe of American society — has consequences. You lose. That’s the natural course when most Americans reject your arguments and preferences. You lose. And you deserve to you.
Quit whining. Or not. Powerless whimpering is your right in a free country.
Certainly not surprised that Amos thinks naked partisanship is to a Justice’s ‘credit’
cheating is bad. Playing along with it to your detriment is even worse.
Yeah, I get that for Trumpistas integrity is for suckers.
Nah, it’s on you guys.
The window for what you count as conservative is narrow.
The window for who you call a liberal partisan is wide as hell.
