Died of boredom, probably. Just signed on to whatever Marshall said. He ruled in favor of slavery, as in Queen v. Hepburn, which is why I suppose he is considered more significant than Duvall, who wrote a moving dissent.
Had we been a monarchy he would have been king as heir to George Washington.
Yes but his younger brother Pushrod would be the one cranking the engine of government into action.
Doesn't matter because he has the best name in the Supreme Court's history.
