45th Anniversary of Our Arrival in the U.S.

Yesterday (Oct. 8) was the day, and today is the 45th anniversary of our arrival in L.A., where I've lived with only a few short breaks ever since. Many thanks to my fellow Americans for taking us in!

As a descendant of a family that arrived in Virginia around 1750, I offer my thanks for the work that you do that has made the American experience richer, and more just. I second the hats off to your parents--moving to a new country with young children was a huge step to take.

I agree -- your parents made a daring leap of faith. If I fuss with my family tree, I can find one relation or another going back to the Mayflower, the Oregon Trail, New Mexico, rafting down the Ohio River ... and all of them made that same leap of faith with little chance of return if things didn't work out. Makes me realize conditions today are nowhere near bad enough for me to consider a similar leap, then I wonder where I could leap to, and then I ponder how related they are.

Hi, Eugene. Perhaps, you can repay the great life you found in this country by making a difference in fixing the law. Till now, you are writing books, and indoctrinating law students into the criminal cult enterprise of the lawyer profession. Your profession is in utter failure in every self stated goal of every law subject. Every year a lawyer breathes, he destroys $2 million in economic value. Yours is the most toxic occupation in our nation.

Our family arrived in 1870, when my several times great grandfather jumped ship in New York Harbor, hitched on a train and jumped off in Iowa along the Mississippi. We're all fine, good to see you newcomers are doing alright too. Keep up the good work.
