Does he belong behind bars?
Charlie Lynch's home and medical marijuana dispensary were raided in 2007. Last summer he endured a federal trial and was found guilty on all counts (feds don't care if you run a squeaky-clean business in accordance with state and local law). Lynch will soon discover whether he will spend part or all of his remaining days behind bars.
If you think this is a travesty, then cancel your lunch plans this Monday. Supporters of Lynch will gather for a rally Feb. 23, from noon to 2pm at the Federal Court House in Downtown LA. Details here.
And don't assume change happened on Jan. 20. Candidate Obama did make a "no raid" promise, but so did candidate Bush back in 2000. Since the raids have continued during the new guy's watch, Jacob Sullum wonders if O. might pull a W.
