Greg Gutfeld: 'Impulse Control or Lack Thereof Is a Huge Deal Right Now'
The Fox News host explains his new self-help book The Plus, the upside of quarantine, and why he thinks Donald Trump will be reelected.

For years, Greg Gutfeld has entertained and edified audiences by hosting Fox News shows such as Red Eye, The Five, and The Greg Gutfeld Show and by authoring best-sellers such as How To Be Right: The Art of Being Persuasively Correct, Not Cool: The Hipster Elite and Their War on You, and The Joy of Hate: How to Triumph over Whiners in the Age of Phony Outrage.
Now the 55-year-old punk-rock obsessive has published The Plus: Self-Help for People Who Hate Self-Help, a funny yet serious book about becoming a better person. In a wide-ranging conversation with Reason's Nick Gillespie, Gutfeld explains why he thinks Americans have so many problems controlling our worst impulses, how we will eventually emerge better off from the COVID-19 lockdowns, and why we will reelect President Donald Trump in November.

Mikhaila Peterson tells the family Saga herself, with her father.
Funny that Chipper's version leaves out the metastasizing cancer and life-threatening sulfide reaction that led to benzodiazepine reliance, and blames it all on meat...
Yeah, it's just some dude on twitter who doesn't like Jordan Peterson. Fair enough. But that twitter feed went way off the rails.
No it doesn't, it's in the thread.
If you don't recognize the crazy shitstorm that is his daughter, you got problems, buddy. But by all means, go on the carnivore diet. Because if you think the carnivore diet is insane, it means you are a crazy vegan that wants to ban all meat consumption. Jfc.
Jordan Peterson talks about his Carnivore Diet:
"I want to preface that with something, I'm not a dietary expert so I'm speaking as an uniformed citizen"
He eats meat and greens and has cut out carbs. Essentially, he's on some kind of Atkins diet. He eventually cut out the greens based on his daughter's experience with an auto-immune disease.
As someone who has a degenerative auto-immune disease, I can tell you that depending on the flavor (celiac- which I don't have) a meat and greens diet can do a lot of wonder. But even the greens can cause problems. She had swelling of the joints-- which I have.
I don't have celiac so the carbs don't seem to be a problem for me. For me, going to a meat and greens diet has helped tremendously. What Peterson describes isn't so way-out. But for many people, cutting out gluten has a considerable effect.
I recall a woman on NPR describing eliminating gluten from her diet. She realized that when she had gluten in her diet, she was "walking around in a fog" all the time.
Further, he says "I wouldn't recommend that anyone does this casually because we don't know much about it" then he goes on to describe how she experimenting with her diet to figure out what was causing her problems.
Again, speaking with some experience in this area, I finally found that if I cut out all caffeine from my diet, I had a fairly amazing transformation.
What Peterson describes about him and his daughter is something similar to what a lot of people in my category suffer.
Why is Gutfeld being interviewed here for the Xth time?
Did he once claim to be a libertarian like Bill Maher has?
Gutfeld is a Big Government conservative.
"Bill Maher claims to be a libertarian"
chuckle
Will try it. Loserthink is also good by Adams.
I watch his show every week. Mostly for Kat.
engaged. lost to convention.
Doesn't matter. And occasionally Emily Compagno is on.
My favorite Gutfeld line:
If 2020 were a band, it would be Maroon 5.
@500 Greg swings towards the peaceful protests... Nick quickly pivots the conversation to Donald Trump. Phewwww...
dude's funny. funnier when I'm not sober and he has his friends along.
Gutfeld appears to make a good living as the poor man's -- and the uneducated man's, and the stale-thinking man's, and the old-timeu superstition man's -- version of Jon Stewart, Trevor Noah, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, etc.
Narrowcasting can be intensely profitable.
you get paid for this?
Fifty cents a thread.
Which is intensely profitable for the Rev.
Fucking hilarious
Jon Stewart, Trevor Noah, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon
Wait a minute...are you saying these are all different people? How can you tell?
Are they supposed to be the same (in your mind) because they all make fun of Trump? Jimmy Fallon avoided doing so for quite a long time, but eventually he simply couldn't ignore such a rich and deep source of material. That is Gutfeld's problem, in my view. He makes his humor about the Democrats being bad, but as he does so, he is pretending that they don't have a point about Trump's many, many flaws. His monologues are more like rants than attempts at humor.
I've watched a little of Gutfeld's show, since my mother loves him and I was a captive audience. I just don't think he's that funny. Political comedy can be partisan and still be at least somewhat amusing to the opposing side if done well, but Gutfeld doesn't have that skill.
"since my mother loves him and I was a captive audience"
You should move out.
... or get cable in the basement.
Answer: Trump will win because Biden just picked Harris.
I plan to keep myself in a drunken stupor until the second Wednesday in November.
Alcohol based time travel.
DC Mayor just ordered the removal of the city-sanctioned "DEFUND THE POLICE" mural.
Interesting timing.
Now if someone would only order the removal of DC!
Many online have speculated that the Democrat mayor's move to pave over the "defund the police" mural is connected to how politically inconvenient the message is for Joe Biden, who just picked Kamala Harris, the former top cop of California as his running mate.
How about
riotingprotesting for a replacement mural: "DON'T VOTE FOR COPS"?Gutfeld, far more Oscar Meyer than Oscar Wilde. And since I'm on full metal curmudgeon mold, what is it about Reason and crush on anyone who is 1) a semi-celebrity; 2) once said something mildly libertarian?
