There is one woman who says he touched her rear end in his office and another who says he kissed her when she was eighteen. So along with the first woman who claimed that she went out with him when she was fourteen and the second one who just admitted to forging at least part of what she presented as his signature in her yearbook, that's a total of four accusers using a pretty broad definition of "sexual assault."

So it's not really so much a question of "disregard[ing]" the women making these claims as recognizing that the people pushing the story (of which Reason is sadly one) don't seem to have any qualms about exaggerating or outright lying about the accusations. The more you lie to smear a guy that you don't like (even if you feel justified because of his politics), the less likely people are to believe *anything* negative you report about him now or in the future.

Moore's campaign website homepage only posts his experience, but his positions page is mostly full of policies libertarians support. His opposition to homosexuals in the military and free trade agreements are bad, but he has several good positions.

Say what you will about Moore, at least everyone in Alabama knows where he stands. Nobody has any freaking clue about where Doug Jones stands. About the only thing Jones will admit is the usual platitudes about wanting to go to Washington to fix it and is willing to work with everyone up there.

All else aside, clicking on the 'anti-immigrant' link takes one to a statement about ending illegal immigration.

Irrespective of one supports enforcing the law, or open borders, conflating a stance as to unlawful immigration with one as to migration *per se* is deliberately, clumsily dishonest.

I always go by my own (patent pending) Statist Scale, aka the Coercion Meter. At one end is 0, where one might find such pure libertarians as Robert LeFevre. At the other end is 10, the realm of Hitler, Mao and Stalin. Around 7 begins what I call the State-f*cker Zone (Hillary Clinton, Obama, etc.). My main question with the Alabama race (and all poilitical contests for that matter) is "How close to 10 is this candidate?" followed by "Is he closer to 10 than the other candidate, or closer to 0?" Not sure where Moore lies on the Statist Scale in comparison to his component; but I note that the people who most vociferously against Moore are way in the State-f*cker Zone.

Come on, Reason. Don't misquote Moore. He's not anti-immigrant. He's anti-illegal alien (according to the link you cited). There is a difference between legal immigration and illegal entry. You may conflate the two and may believe they should be conflated, but they have separate meanings according to the law. https://thelawdictionary.org/illegal-alien/

Also, "free trade" agreements aren't actually free trade. With the TPP being over 5000 pages, how free can that "free trade" be when each legal section on each page is a regulation where the government explicitly picks winners and losers? Truly free trade would only require a one-sentence agreement: "The government shall not interfere in trade between two consenting parties."

Also, the gay marriage position of the authors isn't exactly libertarian. The truly libertarian posiiton on gay marriage and heterosexual marriage is for gov't to get completely out of what is an agreement between consenting adults. Why do we need gov't to tell us what kind of marriage is okay at all?
