Mostly Weekly: Trump's Cuba Crackdown
It's time to end the ridiculous embargo.
President Trump is rolling back some of his predecessor's Cuban policy reforms, potentially setting back important American relations with cigars and rum. In 2014 President Obama restored diplomatic relations with communist Cuba, re-opening the U.S. embassy on the island nation and lifting some travel and financial restrictions.
This month Trump announced he was "canceling the last administration's completely-one sided deal with Cuba." In reality Trump's policy is more bluster and cosmetic changes than an actual reversal, but it might signal a bigger crackdown in the future. The Cuban embargo has entirely failed to oust the island's baddies from power, and may have further entrenched them. In the latest Mostly Weekly, Andrew Heaton explores why sanctions against Cuba are a terrible idea for free people (or just people who enjoy eating cigars).

Trump on regulations, climate accord nonsense, supreme court justice, a few cabinet picks, = A+
Trump on basically everything else = what the fuck is he doing?
Most of the elections I remember led to the conclusion that each President was worse than the one before. I'm sure it's a lot due to the brain's tendency to forget bad things. But Trump vs Hillary ... As bad as Trump is, I honestly do not think Hillary would have done anything right. She would have continued wars and added more. She would have done far more socialistic damage to the economy. She would have doubled down on Obamacare. And the Supreme Court would have filled with Bernies and Lizzies.
One weird election for sure.
No doubt that horrible politicians beget horrible politicians. What is more amazing to me is how well they play the red vs blue thing and get everyone to hate each other.
How can even the tonys of the world not see that they are all exactly the same people?
It took me some time to figure that out but not too much time. This scam has been playing out for 100 years.
How can even the tonys of the world not see that they are all exactly the same people?
He does. I am pretty sure he is just fucking with you.
I'm making over $7k a month working part time. I kept hearing other people tell me how much money they can make online so I decided to look into it. Well, it was all true and has totally changed my life.

I do fear that trumps failures will be a further indictment on private enterprise and capitalism. I have said all along that the reds will blame the failure of trump on capitalism/free markets(or what is left)/private enterprise and elect a true radical. Kind of like cuba pre-castro. It is a crude analogy but Batista was a cronyist of the highest order before he became a dictator. Basically he was Hillary Clinton. He was just considered a right leaning cronyist so it gave the Marxists ammunition for purging the producers and successful.
The vast majority of the population is far too stupid to even attempt to understand marxism and keynesianism.
Sanctions against Cuba are a pretty mainstream Republican policy. And the thing that really matters is all the crap he isn't doing that Hillary would have done.
The only really unusual thing about Trump's presidency is not even the hysteria or shit slinging by the press or progressives, all recent Republicans were subjected to that, it's that he actually responds in kind. It's not pretty, but it seems to be working for now.
It has also given the media something it has always wanted. 24/7 scandal, with no policy discussion.
FTFY.
Can you imagine how painful this collapse would be without his craziness though?
That shit he said yesterday was so weird it was hilarious.
He is good for some epic lulz. And as you pointed out above he's pretty good on some issues (certainly better than Herself would have been - although that's an awfully low bar to clear). But then other things you just have to say "What the fuck?!"
That shit he said yesterday was so weird it was hilarious.
What shit, specifically? The Morning Joke stuff or something else? He says so much shit it's impossible to keep track of it all.
That's what he got elected for: he rants, instead of doing the kind of crap Hillary would have done.
My brother (a card carrying commie) told me he wanted to go to Cuba to see "paradise" before Americans spoiled it. I told him if he's into abject poverty it's a lot cheaper to go to Detroit.
I had a tour business in the 80's, and took several groups to Cuba (thru Mexico). One guest was an editor of a newspaper and a socialist. After talking to the local Cuban people, who mostly wanted to ESCAPE Cuba, he changed his mind a little.
Anyway, drop the sanctions on Cuba, and let everyone travel where they want to, and buy and sell what they want, and that is Libertarianism.
Not when the state confiscates literally everything the external market brings into the country, and throws people into a gulag when they try to keep a little for themselves -- or even publicly argue that maybe they should be allowed to keep a little for themselves.
A lighter? Everybody knows you use a wooden match and let the sulfur burn off before you light it. It's like Heaton's never eaten a cigar before.
I really like these videos.
if course you're right and funny. I dig it But dont go crazy on shit right now people are coming. They look at us as the knowlegeable voice of "reason". Cool lets not scare them away. Atleast im seeing a change.
also Cuba is something that divides libertarians. Cuba is not a liberal democracy. It is a dictatorship. How best does a libertarian try to make the Cuban people free?
A libertarian doesn't try to make the Cuban people anything.
Snark aside, it's not like the Cuban people will see the benefits of more liberal trade with the island. Foreign trade is setup to enrich the regime with the people doing the work getting what their betters decide is appropriate.
The best way is to help Cubans escape. Just like it's better to leave California than to stay and try to change it.
Do we go with the US government trying to drive out the dictators and bring capitalism? Or do we encourage a soft approach and not hurt the Cuban people?
I favor the hard approach. But i believe violence to defend others also count as NAP.
now ive gone down the slippery slope
haha now im out
like Todd responded I'm blown away that a single mom able to get paid $480000 in four weeks on the computer . go to the website????

What is so special about "American" business that it would finally "un-entrench" the Castro regime? Cuba has been doing business with Europe, Canada, and probably about 150 other countries for the last 50+ years. Hasn't seemed to help...
RE: Mostly Weekly: Trump's Cuba Crackdown
I don't see capitalism taking over Cuba soon. However, as more people are allowed to travel from the USA to Cuba, more Cubans will benefit financially as Americans spend their money down there.
Time will determine when the "socialist experiment" that failed the Cuban people will be replaced with more humane and more independent political/economic system.
I repeat-
What is so spcial about American Tourists- Canadians and European have been going there forever- Raul Castro still rules...
Easier flight for us.
uptil I saw the draft for $9576 , I be certain that...my... neighbour was actually bringing in money in there spare time on their apple labtop. . there friend brother has done this for under twenty one months and by now paid the debts on their apartment and bought a top of the range Car -*
Reason: WTF we love communism now?
Bernie Sanders, Colin Kaepernick and other leftists regard Fidel Castro as a hero, saying he gave the Cubans "free education"--more precisely, he gave them free communist propaganda. Andrew Heaton says that the embargoes do not harm the communist leaders, only the poor. However, communist and socialist intellectuals around the world affirm that they support the poor and believe in an egalitarian society--and many of these deluded people are living in America. There is some value in any politician who attempts to expose the lies of communism and socialism.
