Was Comey Convincing, Is Trump Julius Caesar, Is Alex Jones a Libertarian? [Reason Podcast]
No, no, and no. Nick Gillespie, Katherine Mangu-Ward, and Matt Welch debate and discuss.
"What we're witnessing," says Nick Gillespie on today's Reason Podcast, "is the end of a bunch of things"—the Clinton political dynasty, Brexit, French establishment politics, the collapse of the May government in the United Kingdom—"and in that end, there is the possiblity of…a different, 21st-century world…where politics and policy follow all the advances in personalization and individualization and autonomy we see in our cultural and political lives."
Gillespie is joined by Reason magazine Editor in Chief Katherine Mangu-Ward and Reason Editor at Large Matt Welch. Andrew Heaton moderates a discussion that heatdly talks about former FBI director James Comey's controversial testimony about Donald Trump, the results of last week's election in Britain, a production of Shakespeare's Julius Caesar featuring a titular character who looks a lot like the president, and whether Infowars' host and 9/11 truther Alex Jones is actually the libertarian he self-describes as.

Alex Jones isn't a Scotsman either.
Being in love with a half- Scotsman doesn?t count?
Libertarian moment!
'Is Trump Julius Caesar ?"
Some Senators of the Republic worry about Melania's new line of minium-based men's cosmetics.
I've let Alex Jones' reputation dissuade me from listening to him on purpose, but I've caught interviews of him on YouTube recently, and he wasn't anywhere near as hateful as I was expecting. He's a little too stylized for radio for me, which is a much bigger problem.
Ha, I have now met the first Alex Jones cock holster, and it is you, Eman!
Et tu, Quoque?
Alex Jones hateful? Never heard that. A nutjob? Certainly.
Or he purposely sells nutty CT to nutjobs - which might take some sanity to do.
Alex Jones not hateful? You only say that because you are not, presumably, a gay frog.
I watched a video where he predicted that Lady Gaga would literally call upon and raise Satan from the underworld during her Super Bowl performance. I doubt he lost any listeners after that was a dud, sadly.
I also once read that he stopped calling himself a libertarian because of Gary Johnson LOL. But hey, Trump thinks Bannon is one, Bill Maher thinks Paul Ryan is one, why can't Jones be a FAKE libertarian too? We have fuckers like Tony and DanO after all.
Drumpf cock holsters at reason.com ejaculate over arduous regulations from the past (Democratic) administrations, because it gives them time off from Drumpf.
But when the current administration indulges in it?

Who the fook is this guy?
Blue Star. Didn't you see Wall Street with Michael Douglas?
I'm shorting the stock
He's a new imbecilic lefty trying to make turd look good. And failing.
Anyone who uses Drumpf to sell a point is not worth the time.
Yeah, adolescent at best.
Drumpf
I still don't see the humor here. Donalds father or grandfather changed the family name to make it more palatable for business. 1) It was for a good reason & 2) it was out of Donalds control. On the other hand, Obo changed his name from Barry Soetorro (proobably misspelled that) to have his (marxist) fathers name and to sound more ethnic. I see a little bit of comedic potential in that, yet have not heard indignant, condescending jokes from a certain british non-comedian about it. Curious.
Alex Jones is definitely NOT libertarian. I spent several months monitoring that channel in Austin while driving. During the entire time the word "libertarian" came up exactly once. A smarmy guest assured the audience the LP was never going to "win an election." Implicit was the looter assumption that "winning" means getting government paychecks at taxpayer expense and a hairy-knuckled hand in the till. Winning in fact means using spoiler votes to force sitting looter politicians to repeal bad laws or lose that check and hand in the till. Everyone in Austin knows Jones as a Jesus freak whack job whose show is more entertaining than the other dozen or so Jesus freak channels in English and Spanish.
Both parties are in on the entitlement gravy train. GOP voters just call it SSDI, Social Security, or Medicare. That is why the Bushpigs created Medicare Welfare Part D.
Fuck off, turd.
Says the resident TEAM RED! hack.
Prove it turd. Or fuck off.
"Iowa may be first state with no health insurers on exchange"
[...]
"Several counties in Missouri, Ohio and Washington state have no insurer for next year, but Iowa would be the first state to lose all insurers on an ACA exchange.
[...]
During the first week of April, Wellmark Blue Cross & Blue Shield and Aetna announced they were pulling out of the Iowa market. That followed the withdrawal of United Healthcare in April 2016 and the failure in early 2015 of an insurance cooperative CoOpportunity that had been set up by the ACA law.
[...]
[Iowa] had more than 85,000 people keep their existing plans through Wellmark. When the ACA was created President Barack Obama promised that they could keep existing plans."

Well, he PROMISED! Hahahahahahahah.
Health insurance is available to anyone willing to pay for it, you dumbass conservative.
So the story now is 'we don't need O-care'?
Push them goal posts, turd!
And pay your bets.

WIH does a failing retailer have to do with anything, you asinine pile of shit?

Are Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell still bffs with Jones?
Everything--including the near-election of a far-left renationalizer as PM of the UK--is a sign of the Libertarian Moment. *Reason* has gone beyond self-caricature.
Nick or Matt, why is the state of health, for Reason Magazine, never discussed? I only come here part time but I have noticed over the years a decline in the energy and the blog participation of the magazine, and if I am right, why do you think that is? Also how about a segment on trolls. Is our resident Tony a paid troll and what does it say about him if he is, or isn't, and how much opinion is shape by trolls in the media and Reason, especially if they are paid. I always enjoy your podcasts, but you might have on more people you can be confrontational with if you want to expand your base IMO.
If there's someone to blame for the decline in participation, I'd blame Obama because he caused half the commenters to go batshit fucking insane spewing endless Fox News talking points, and thereby alienating the other half of the commenters who actually wanted to have thoughtful discussions about policy issues without wading through dozens of posts every day filled with psychotically unhinged (and frequently thinly-veiled racist) vitriol. Thanks Obama!
Ah yes, Hihn sock. I'm sure that the overall tenor of the site shifting into being apologetic to at times outright supportive of the expansion of the State's scope of power had absolutely nothing to do with it.
We are the Truly superior Libertarians.
Gary Johnson, right.

You guys really need to get over yourselves as someone who has more grey matter than all of you. Whew journalists....morons. I will take any of you on in an Intelligence test.
Your massive IQ is not reflected in your writing.
Alex Jones is an entertainer first and foremost. He does delve into crazy level conspiracy stuff all the time... But he also delves into REAL conspiracy stuff all the time too. He covered Bilderberg when it still wasn't even publicly acknowledged to exist etc. The thing that pisses me off most about him is that is IS really smart and poignant on a lot of stuff, and then goes into left field 30 seconds later. I can only stomach listening once in awhile, but it can be entertaining to watch a show on YouTube every couple months.
He's a mish mash of libertarian, trad con, populist I think. I don't think he is 100 percent serious about a lot of things he says, especially if you take him literally. He's just in it for the lolz sometimes. Lol
