Are College Campuses Racist Environments? [Reason Podcast]
Lawrence Ross vs. Kmele Foster in a public debate at the Soho Forum
"We want to say that campus racism is wherever 'the other' is," says Lawrence Ross, author of Blackballed: The Black and White Politics of Race on America's Campuses. "But no, [racism] happens at Missouri, Yale, Berkeley, Columbia, my alma mater, UCLA…whether it's a small college, or a private college, or a state college, it happens in every place."
In today's podcast, we've got the audio from a public debate between Ross and The Fifth Column's Kmele Foster over the
following proposition: "America's colleges have fostered a racist environment that makes them a hostile space for African American students."
The event was hosted by the Soho Forum, a monthly libertarian-themed Oxford-style debate series in New York City. At the beginning of the event, attendees get to vote on the evening's resolution. After the debaters have had their say, the audience votes again, and the side that's gained the most ground wins the contest.
Foster, arguing for the negative, won the debate by convincing 27 percent of the audience to come over to his side.
Next up at the Soho Forum: On Tuesday, June 13, it's Gene Epstein of Barron's vs. economist Mark Skousen over whether "Adam Smith should be honored as the father of modern economics and free-enterprise capitalism." Get your tickets here.

Finally. This should be good. Go, Kmele!
Are College Campuses Racist Environments?
No.
That was easy.
Yeah, but i bet you weren't rocking a pair of white jeans and making money while you typed that.
I see you haven't been traumatized by the poopstika.
Check your privilege.
I can agree with you. Black people have never been treated differently on our campus. We all have the same rights and responsibilities and we are all held accountable in class the same way. I have a few friends like that and I can say that they are friends worth looking for. One of them helped me with my dissertation and told me that I can buy it here: https://essays.studymoose.com/buy-dissertation and not to waste my time on it, but instead to work more. It gave me hope not to drop out of college right in that semester. If not for him it would have been an extremely difficult time for me. We are all human and we all have to respect each other.

Nooooo!
Is it hot in here is or is just Kmele?
Racist environments? Do they have affirmative action?
And do they have a drive to compartmentalize all studies by racial group?
And dorms?
Separate but equal.
KMELE 2020
Racism was going away on campuses, then the progressives fucked it up by asserting that a color blind society was a racist society. Now you MUST assert race and MUST judge people by the color of their skin. It's absolutely crazy.
Jeepers Cripes! Even "people of color" has become the preferred term! It's Bizarro World.
In my day, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, we university students didn't care what color you were. That was the sort of shit left to the Deep South. But now skin color is declared to be the most relevant attribute of a person. It's fucking crazy.
MLK took a bullet for this?
Yeah, well all that proves is that debate audiences are crazy-racist.
It's a "libertarian-themed" debate series. We knew about the racism going in.

It's a rapacious rapist, racist culture. The modern three R of education.
This is answering the wrong question. Yes, campuses ARE racist, but the racists are the people playing the race card.
This was the first debate I've hear where I thought both positions were poorly argued. Neither debater came with a compelling or convincing case. I was quite disappointed, as I really look forward to these.
yeah....typos....hope what I said is legible.
"America's colleges have fostered a racist environment that makes them a hostile space for African American students."
There are colleges that are hostile to blacks, to whites, to atheists, to Christians, to conservatives, to homosexuals, to heterosexuals, to men, to women, to liberals, to the old, to the young, to social science majors, to STEM majors, to foreigners, to Americans, etc.
Just pick one that works for you, that's why they make all kinds.
In a recent discussion, I've had a number of people (educated people) try to convince me, quoting serious academic studies and spouting various statistics, that standardized tests are inherently racist.
