But as the Republican faithful gathered in Cleveland for their nominating convention, the GOP elite gleefully joined The Donald's death march to November. So how does their rosy new outlook compare to their prior view of the newly-crowned nominee?

I don't know if it's fair to lump Cruz in there.
Have you been reading here long? Who cares about fair around here?
I'd say it's decidedly unfair. In fact, though Rand Paul and Jeb Bush deserve some credit for not falling in line, Cruz had the nads to go there and give a speech refusing to endorse him and get humiliated for it. Maybe that;s just from bitterness at not getting to be president himself, but still.
Can you do one for Reagan next? I love all the ones blaming him for Ford losing in '76 and being too conservative to ever win a general.
From reading the commentary on other stories around here, this isn't a humorous look at how two faced politicians are, this is called "keeping your promise, regardless of the realities of the situation"
MURICA!!
