4 Dumb Things GOP Candidates Have Said About Legal Marijuana
Republicans say they love states' rights, but they almost all hate recreational pot.
The Republican presidential candidates are facing off yet again in another primary debate to be held at the University of Colorado Boulder—so you can guarantee they'll be asked about that state's wildly successful experiment with marijuana legalization.
Pot is a tricky subject for the GOP candidates. They want to support the states' rights to be "laboratories of democracy," but they mostly hate the idea of making pot legal.
That tension has led to some pretty wild and stupid rhetoric. Watch the video above to see four of the weakest arguments the Republican candidates have made against legalizing marijuana. And you can watch the debate Wednesday, October 28th on CNBC at 8pm ET, or follow Reason's liveblog for all the latest updates and commentary.

Christie is fat. Just because he cannot control himself around doughnuts, does not mean I should not have access.
Ban donuts. Fuck Christie and Fuck the Police.
Fatboy needs to stay in the shithole he calls a state and leave the rest of us alone.
Fuck the FDA, Rubio is a dumass.
Here is starkly the difference between statists and actual small government supporters: Should people be allowed to do things you disagree with?
Republicans are mindless superstitious cretins convinced that freedom to smoke reefers lead to Demonic Possession. Democrats think that economic freedom does the same thing. What is the common thread here?
Weird, and I thought the dumbest thing came out of the mouth of the Top Democrat.

Since October Trump has come out in favor of medical hemp and for 21st-Amendment repeal of federal pot laws. Why don't Reason editors open the Washington Post and see for themselves? Barring mention of the flip-flop is at best an Orwellian exercise in reality control and at worst a Ministry of Truth order to rectify journalistic records to elide the fact that an outsider with his own money is beating the pants off the prohibitionists after moving closer to the Libertarian platform recommendation on hemp. Jacob, break this cowardly silence, willya?
