John McCain on Boehner's Resignation, Kim Davis, Drug Legalization, Planned Parenthood
Arizona senator says a Balanced Budget Amendment is the single-best thing to get done before 2016 election.
Reason TV met up with Sen. John McCain (R-Az.) outside the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C. The conference is an annual meeting mostly Christian religious voters and leaders.
McCain told Nick Gillespie that he thinks a government shutdown over Planned Parenthood is pointless, heaped praise on outgoing House Speaker John Boehner, and said marijuana legalization should be decided at the state level.
The 2008 Republican presidential candidate said the F-35 fighter plane is not just the "first trillion-dollar weapons system" but a "classic example" of a government boondoggle, that Kim Davis was wrong to keep other Rowan County clerks from issuing gay marriage licenses, and that we should not increase legal immigration.
"You come and visit me in the office," McCain tells Reason. "And I promise you we'll have a good fight."

Good job Nick! I trust you'll take him up on his offer.
I would love to see that. Kind of pointless, but it would be fun to watch.
At least McCain will talk to Reason. He's a disaster as a senator, and should have left office years ago, but he isn't giving Nick the brush off.
I think Nick got/held his attention with his dapper black ensemble.
That, and apparently Nick knew just the right question to ask to please Vecna.
McCain talks to The Jacket. A Libertarian moment.
He's one of the best in the Senate. Though I am fully aware that is a pretty poor standard. But it's rare you will have someone admit the government spends too much, and even rarer where they will agree a department they love (Defence, in McCain's case) needs some cutbacks.
yes
I'm sorry but I'm not spending 10:31 of my life listening to ANYTHING McCain has to say.
Johnny the Whiner is gone, next goes Mitch, and then we have to get rid of this old fool's ass. What the hell is wrong with the voters of Arizona anyway?
What the hell is wrong with the voters of Arizona anyway?
Just about everything, apparently.
yes
Fuck the drug war, McCain is living in the past but the tide is turn if he says leave it to the states in regard to weed:

You can tell mccain is speaking out his ass, his lips are moving.
He's atypical of the reason why trump is high in the polls. Politicians using an unlimited vocabulary to say absolutely nothing. Mccain is an idiot, I thank him for his service but he continually proves he's no hero.
He's a war hero, which deserves respect. His political views seem to be evolving (in accordance with the political weather vane).
Respect is something that's earned and that can be lost again. McCain has lost my respect through his subsequent actions. The man may have sacrificed for others once, but today, I think he is a senile, dangerous fool.
So Gemeinnutz geht vor Eigennutz is the standard of good we should respect?
Yep. It takes a lot of courage to order cops to gun down unarmed teenagers as an example to intimidate them hemp kingpins, by God! Give me God's Own Pro-life-in-prison movement and long live The Sick Road of initiation of force.
"...the heroin epidemic is well published. I saw it on fox and christie told me that pot was a gateway drug so instead of researching it myself, which would mean actually doing some work, I will only listen to those who I agree with."
Christie's too fat to agree with.
Learn why the so-called "balanced budget amendment" guts our Constitution and does NOTHING to reduce spending.
This is a very hot issue.
Two salesmen from Florida were in Knoxville, Tennessee last weekend to sell this destructive amendment. One of them asked the local TP personto get an audience there. He said he would, but there would be a speaker in opposition to the BBA. The Florida salesman agreed toa speaker in opposition.
HOWEVER, when I got there, the salesmen and their supporters in TN refused to allow me to speak. They shouted me down,
and Tennessee State Representative Dennis Powers threatened to have me removed from the premises if I didn't shut up.
Folks! This is un-American. They will not tolerate dissent. They use us to get an audience to attend their events; but they will not permit any dissent ? even when they promised they would. NONE.
[And some of you think a "convention of states" will allow free & open debate?]
Please read the linked article. And let me know what you think of the new format. I am trying to be more user friendly.

true
No article introduced with such mindless rambling by way of a preface merits a first glance. A single quotation from the amendment the DemoGOP is distracting people with would be an improvement over this hand-wringing Mein Kampf.
I am a rabid anti-leftist. I hate leftism and the leftists that practice leftism with my all my soul.
John McCain is one of the most loathsome human beings on the face of the earth. I don't give a rat's ass what this awful ass hole has to say about anything.
And John, I don't give a rat's ass about your freak'n time in the Hanoi Hilton. In the case of you, it is meaningless.
Hey John....get the Hell out of my life, and the lives of my family and other normal Americans.
Well, somebody needs to work on opening their heart chakra.
John McCain on Boehner's resignation,
I don't give a shit
Kim Davis,
I don't give a shit
drug legalization,
I really don't give a shit
Planned Parenthood
I don't give a shit. McCain is the Ubersuck.
John "cash and vacations" McCain sold his influence to Charles Keating, then got off on a technicality when he rolled over on the others at the investigation. He was a central figure in the biggest banking scandal of the '80s. His home town paper called him "The worst of the Keating Five."
It's been a long and sadly sordid time since the Hanoi Hilton.

McCain, according to the US Constitution, all drugs are legal !!!
And cut the size of your centralized beast by 99%
It's cute the way the Senator says "We could save billions of dollars" like it was a lot of money.
A billion here and a billion there, and it ends up as real money. Nonetheless, we send tens of thousands of houses worth of money to Columbia for helicopters. Fuck those homeless disabled veterans.
McCain used to do semi regular press releases things he thought were ridiculous budget line items (he might still do them, I don't care). They usually were a few million bucks, big whoop.
While he has bashed the F-35 program, he has been hesitant to attack and cut defense spending in any other substantive way (indeed, he may just think the trillion bucks spent on the F-35 should be spent on some other defense systems). On top of that, he and his buddy Graham are the biggest interventionists in the Senate today.
The question that should have been asked is do you favor a rescheduling of cannabis so that medical studies can be conducted testing its efficacy in treating illnesses?
No, stupid is as stupid does so the question was do you favor pot legalization.
I want it to be legal but as long as people can insist that it is a gateway drug, or has no medicinal value, you can not disprove their opinions without medical evidence. Wake up!
It's kind of a pity McCain wore out his welcome with Conservatives and Libertarians long ago; what he's saying here is sort of reasonable (full disclosure; I didn't watch the video. I hate video interviews). Drug legalization SHOULD be decided by the States, the F-35 seems to be a piece of junk, shutting down the government has been tried and has failed as a tactic. Trying it again over Planned Unparenthood is a recipe for failure.
OTOH, McCain is a fairly typical Establishment Republican. The kind the Liberal Press love, right up until the moment he's running for something against a viable Liberal candidate.
With Boehner out of the way, the Rs will be free to focus on their favorite topics: railing against abortion and gay marriage. Everything else is secondary. Of course McCain dodged the issue on marijuana. We can let the states decide, but there is still all that nasty federal prohibition that enables the war on drugs, fills the prisons and demands billions for unnecessary, unwanted law enforcement. For some time I was hopeful that Republicans would begin to adopt a more libertarian ethic and leave behind some of the more controversial social conservative rhetoric, but I was wrong. Old habits die hard.
And the republicans will continue to lose the presidency until they surrender on the Wars on Women, Gays and Drugs.
The GOP hasn't won the female vote in a presidential election since 1988.
They haven't won the gay vote in a presidential election since FOREVER.
And they haven't won the youth vote in a presidential election since forever.
Either change your ways GOP or lose yourself out of existence and into a life of socialism for your grandchildren and their offspring!
If anyone has to be aborted, thank God it's the children of the left! We can only pray they abort their kind out of existence.
Enough that they die. The initiation of force, napalming of peasants and genocide against semitic non-christians has had its day, as have the Federalist, Whig and Red (this time with blood) Republican parties.
I like how McCain contradicts himself about the government second-guessing hiring practices and then tries to claim he's not contradicting himself.
Well at least Nick got dressed up for the occasion.
Thanks for writing such a great post. I really enjoyed reading that content.
I will share it with my social networks because i enjoy posting

For once, McCain is right and Nick is wrong: At least according to National Institute on Drug Abuse, heroin overdose deaths have tripled since Obama became president. Rx opioid overdose deaths have held steady.

Listen carefully, and realize that is what God's Own Prohibitionists wanted as president before suffering Salt Lake City's finest to endure the humiliation. Just as the Whigs made way for the Red Republicans, so the Prohibitionists need to make way for the Libertarian Party and the Dems (to be honest) should abdicate in favor of Bernie's own CPUSA.
