Don't Tell 'Em (Obamacare Version)
As Jonathan Gruber could tell you, the only way to sell "stupid" American voters on Obamacare was to keep us confused about what the law actually does.
Remy recreates the White House's strategy meeting in this parody of the Jeremih hit, "Don't Tell 'Em."

LYRICS:
Folks would be aghast if
this law would be passed but
thankfully they are so dumb
Sure our team can't build a
website in three years but
THEY'RE the ones who are so dumb
So, what's the strategy?
Don't tell em, don't tell 'em
You ain't even
Don't tell em, don't tell 'em
You ain't even, you ain't even gotta tell 'em
It'll bring prices down with it
Your healthcare plan will stick around with it
Boy, you know I'm from Chicago
Maybe they get a clown with it…
Don't let me catch you snoring
Making government bigger is never boring
Our CBO strategy's named "Bill Cosby"
we're looking for an improper scoring
When folks ask what's in you lie through the tooth
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
Our ideas are so good we can't tell the truth
That's right right right right right
But won't people read it in three years or so?
My, my, my, my, my, my
Who'd look inside something that many years old?

Not Remy's best effort, but I laughed.
Remy, you need to use Shake it Off for a parody on the Dems/Obama losing the midterms.
No.
Yes.
I've got a blank space, sarcasmic, where I'll write your name.

That is a load of Gruber!
Would I be a bad person for saying "Gruber-head!" around highly-impressionable little kids?
Ha. Links to references in the lyrics.
Our ideas are so good we can't tell the truth
Just a doggone minute. *That's* an idea, ... so you must not be telling the truth, ... so you *are* telling the truth! Truly the most transparent administration in history!
Gruber question of the day:
Who was attending all of these talks? Why did none of them speak up at the time?
Let's find out who was in the audience, and start asking them some questions, too.
I believe it was members of the media who were in the audience? Or was your question rhetorical?
Can someone explain to me why Quentin Tarantino is in charge of healthcare legislation?
I think you meant Saul Rubinek?
The Cosby/Dunham references made this one.
Yeah, the 3 year thing was pretty funny.
That took me a second but then...yeah
It's funny because it's true.

I don't know who that man is in that video, but Obama clearly told yesterday us that he never even heard of Gruber until about a week ago.
"We need an improper scoring." You realize you're culturally enabling rape, don't you?
Don't be ENB, Timothy.
Can we at least agree that Gruber DOES tell the truth when talking about "stupid" voters? A typical voter claims to want to vote out all the crooks, and yet year after year, incumbents win elections between 95% and 99% of the time.
Is it tin foil hat time? Fuck it, it's tin foil hat time.
Are we 100% certain that our votes even make it that far? Are you certain we're not just taking part in a gigantic political pantomime, and the winners are determined beforehand?
"Is it tin foil hat time? Fuck it, it's tin foil hat time."
This doesn't mean that political engagement is ineffectual, it's only ineffectual if we don't "plan for the worst." Sure, elections are very likely rigged, or partially-rigged.
That's why exit polling needs to be done, as well as door-to-door organization.
When we know that we had the numbers to win an election, and the state tells us we still lost it, then we'll know. Of course, the LP is externally-controlled, so we're not even doing what we should be doing in terms of "the basics."
Why don't we try doing the very most elemental basics, just for a little while, and see where it gets us? Dick Randolph did that in 1978-1982 in Alaska, and walked away with 1/10 of the state legislature.
Might that not be an appropriate beginning point?
Yeah, because Konkinist libertarians sit every election out, pay all their money to a few FBI guys who control the LNC, do nothing that Dick Randolph did to get elected, use totally stupid strategy that fails to use one penny of the million$ that flow through I & R, etc...
"The voters" would be a lot smarter (even taken as a collective whole) if libertarians would seriously participate. Sadly, they don't.
There is one thing libertarians are good at though, from the broke ones all the way to Peter Thiel: bitching about the problem.
"A typical voter claims to want to vote out all the crooks, and yet year after year, incumbents win elections between 95% and 99% of the time."
St. Landry parish recently had a substantial sales tax hike on the ballot. It passed overwhelmingly. I asked around and could not find anyone who voted for it nor anyone who knew anyone who voted for it.
Take that for what it is worth.
Oh yeah. Back in 2010 I saw where a reporter had gone to Searchlight, NV and was unable to find a single person who voted for Harry Reid. He asked around Las Vegas and got the same result.
I have thoughts like that all the time, but I rarely say them out loud, lest I look like Pauline Kael.
