David Boaz: Americans Won't Tolerate a War with Syria
"It's absolutely true that there has been a trend toward opposition to foreign adventurism […] Even in Washington, it's constrained," says CATO institute Executive Director, David Boaz.
Boaz says that even if politicians in Washington aren't in favor of invading foreign countries, they are in favor of using drones, creating no-fly zones and giving arms to rebels:
"Dangerous things that led us into Vietnam that can lead you into wars," he tells Reason's Editor-in-Chief Matt Welch at Freedom Fest 2013. "They know the American people would not tolerate, 'Let's just go in and fight a war in Syria.'"
Welch and Boaz discuss foreign interventionism, the libertarian moment and the Paul family's future in politics.
Held each July in Las Vegas, Freedom Fest is attended by around 2,000 limited-government enthusiasts and libertarians. Reason TV spoke with over two dozen speakers and attendees and will be releasing interviews over the coming weeks. Go here for an ever-growing playlist of this year's interviews.

“””Americans Won’t Tolerate a War with Syria”””
I am not so sure, they have tolerated so much already. In large part I think its not that they don’t care, but they have seen Washington do so many intolerable things and many feel that they have little power to stop them. Vote the Republican out and the Democrat steps in and does the same thing, or the other way around.
Maybe I am just getting old and tired of seeing the same things over and over.
They’ll vote for Hillary too, because her economic agenda is preferable to government hating Rand Paul’s. Also, free contraception.
Expect to hear something about “Both parties suck, but we can’t go back to making past mistakes” Ten years ago, Bush acted unilaterally and pushed congress for war.
“Won’t tolerate”, my ass. You’ll hear a few grumbles, and then the country will go back to watching the Kardashians. What planet is this guy from, anyway?
Yep, probably some cute baby pictures of the little Prince will be out shortly, or Jenny joins the “View” or
the Zimmerman divorce will steal all the headlines.
Current top story on the Daily Mail:
I… just… wha… unless her rack is somehow relevant to this story, I think I want to move to the Moon.
I kind of like some of the pictures in that story… even though they are SFW I interpret some in a naughty way.
OMG!! Are the Zimmerman’s divorcing!! I’m tweeting this right now!!
“Americans Won’t Tolerate a War with Syria” …Who can be sure that! right?
I join the weary cynicism of the commentariat.
We’ll bomb Syria (and God knows what else). No President will lose his job, and precious few Congressholes. By the only measure that counts, the war will thus have been tolerated, and even ratified by the fact that there were adverse consequences for practically nobody involved.
