Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss
In Russia of old, the state monopolized the media and told people what to believe through government-owned news sources like Pravda. But in the new Russia… err, oh wait, never mind.
The last private national channel in Russia, TVS, has been yanked from the air and replaced with a government sports station. The station was taken off the air due to financial difficulties in what appears, at first blush, to have been an illegal fashion. Additionally, TVS spokesfolks claim that the government artificially inflated charges for cable services. Ah well, at least in "capitalist" Russia you get box-scores with your propaganda.
