Wife of Ex-Politburo Member in China Pleads Guilty
The trial lasted a total of 7 hours as the court said the woman did not contest her charges
Gu Kailai, wife of deposed Communist Party official Bo Xilai, did not contest charges that she and a household aide poisoned a British businessman in Chongqing last year after a falling out over a financial dispute, according to lawyers and a court statement issued at the end of a one-day trial here.
According to a person who attended the trial — in a barricaded courtroom that was closed to all but state-controlled news outlets — Gu confessed to the murder at the end of the proceeding.
