Brickbat: Puff? Pass.
The Maldives has banned anyone born on or after January 1, 2007, from buying, using, or selling tobacco. The health ministry says the ban "applies to all forms of tobacco, and retailers are required to verify age prior to sale." A tobacco control official cited previous action against vaping as a first step. He noted tourists must follow the rules but said he does not expect the law to hurt tourism.

IN WHAT SMOKE FILLED BACK ROOM DID THE ELITES COME UP WITH THIS PLAN?
Wouldn't have happened if Joe was still in charge. Camel knew how to take care of business while looking cool. The ladies would just let him grab their hump.
Camel toe?
Damn me, thats much better.
If you can’t handle their rules, don’t visit the Maldives. Just like folks visiting here - if you don’t like the provisions, then go elsewhere or stay home.
Exactly. Know the laws and rules of the place you intend to visit before you travel there. The Maldives are the Karen's wet dream for a nanny state but they are not hiding the football.
Then I guess, as an up-and-coming WNBA athlete, I'll just have to stick to lesbian sex and THC oil when I visit The Maldives.
I thought the Maldives was already swallowed up by the rising seas.
Don't worry. The coming ice age will cause the oceans to rise. I'm not actually sure how yet - but the climate panic pushers say so.
They are really grasping at rounding errors at this point. Still interesting to know the details. Of course they round up from 2.3% to 3% where I would have rounded down to 2%. Saying just over 2% is about 3% smells of bias to me. https://sealevel.nasa.gov/news/261/melting-ocean-ice-affects-sea-level-unlike-ice-cubes-in-a-glass/
Groundwater depletion has a bigger impact on sea level than sea ice.
Been there. Not worth the trip.
So I guess I'll cross off the Maldives as a possible Libertopia to relocate to.
How many examples do we need to show that legislating morality never works? I guess we're about to get one more.
Oh but you'd be super pissed if we bombed them wouldn't you.
Christian National Socialists are really into bombing blitzes...
At least when rising seas swallow up The Maldives they will be tobacco free and proudly wave their virtue signaling flags as they disappear under the ocean waves.
Looking at Brazilian cigarette racks, it's hard to find any brand not obviously controlled by the MAGAt empire. All through the twenties and thirties, while Hoover and Harry Anslinger declared every safer alternative a gateway to becoming a dawp attic, US cigarette sales went from millions to billions as throat and lung cancer went from rare to commonplace. All the maldiveños need ban is 'Murrican cigarettes endorsed as safe by the League of Nations, Narcotics bureaus everywhere--and 9 out of 10 doctors who under oath preach reefer madness to congressional committees.
