69 Percent of Americans Say American Dream Is Not Dead
Americans are increasingly optimistic about their ability to attain the American Dream, according to a new survey.

As the U.S. celebrates Independence Day, national pride is at a historic low. But new data reveal that belief in the American Dream remains alive and well.
Roughly "7 in 10 Americans are optimistic about the American Dream," according to the annual American Dream Snapshot released by the Archbridge Institute, a nonpartisan think tank dedicated to lifting barriers to human flourishing. The majority of respondents also believe the concept of the American Dream has the power to unite Americans "around a shared belief, regardless of…different backgrounds and viewpoints," revealing remarkable resiliency for one of the oldest and strongest national themes.
From a sample size of 2,131 Americans across the country surveyed in May, 69 percent of respondents, regardless of race, income, or education, "say they have either achieved the American Dream or are on their way to achieving it," according to the survey. "Only 30% of people think the American Dream is out of reach." The snapshot's results reveal a 2 percent increase in optimism compared to last year's findings, which revealed some of the highest rates of pessimism found by Archbridge since it began its snapshot report in 2020. While the improvement in this year's results is noteworthy, overall pessimism is still higher than previously found in 2023.
Considering that each American has a nuanced understanding of what their unique American Dream is, Archbridge dug deeper into what respondents believe are the essential ingredients to achieving success. Contrary to more materialistic caricatures of the American Dream, only 15 percent—4 percent less than last year—said becoming wealthy was essential. Retiring comfortably, owning a home, having a successful career, and making valuable contributions to the community all ranked higher on the priority list for many Americans. But what respondents believe to be the most essential are "freedom of choice in how to live" (83 percent) and "having a good family life" (80 percent).
Although the strong positivity among Americans is striking, negativity does exist—particularly among younger generations. Of adults in the United States between 18 and 29 years of age, 39 percent believe the American Dream is out of reach, almost double that of adults over 60 (20 percent). Across the pessimistic cohort, nearly six in 10 cited poor economic conditions, including rising housing prices, costs of living, and low wages, as the most significant barrier to achieving success.
Included in those financial barriers are increased tariffs. According to the snapshot, "more than half (58%) of Americans believe recent tariff increases will make it more difficult for them to achieve the American Dream," and "only 12% say the tariffs will help them."
Predictably, Republicans are more optimistic about the tariff increases than Democrats, but perhaps surprisingly, the Trump administration's tariff policies are "unpopular even among those with less education and income, the groups purported to benefit" the most. Given two stories to choose from—President Donald Trump's "Liberation Day" or economists' dire warnings—survey results show that the majority of the American people sided with the economists.
Meanwhile, about half of Americans are less wary of, but not quite sold on, the effects artificial intelligence (AI) will have on future economic conditions. Most Americans, 51 percent, believe AI technology will not affect their American Dream pursuits, while 31 percent believe it will actively stand in their way of achieving success. Only 16 percent responded that AI will help them achieve their American Dream goals, with younger generations being slightly more pessimistic than older Americans.
Americans still believe strongly in the American Dream and the opportunities available in the United States. Although economic conditions and uncertainty deflate optimism among younger Americans, these barriers are man-made and therefore, can be overcome. That is, if the government gets out of the way and allows Americans to reach their full potential.

Interesting, now tell us about Trump’s approval ratings.
Among everyone, or just activist metro AWFLs?
… negativity does exist—particularly among younger generations.
Holy crap, that’s never happened before!
Did you ever wonder why so many cultures around the world sent young people away to find themselves/wage war/have a vision quest/perform missionary duties?
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair!
*and*
You can’t have chicks in charge.
Fuckin’ broads!
You especially can't have chicks in charge of raising boys.
I'll take 'something that will never appear in Reason' for 500, Alex.
What Is 'An Enormous Scandal, Dwarfing Watergate & The Pentagon Papers'
Just like how they won't cover the mind-blowing autopen scandal.
We haven't had a situation like the Biden presidency since Woodrow Wilson, except the Biden situation happened in a world with mass media.
When is a conspiracy not a "conspiracy"?
When it's (D)ifferent?
Did you know that the word "gullible" is not to be found int he dictionary?
It's example is all the retards who thought the economy would collapse because someone on CNN said it would.
Explain to us all how it isn't true, never happened, shill.
Explain to us why a report commissioned by a Trump loyalist erases the credibility of subsequent reports produced by independent sources (Mueller) and GOP sources (Senate Intelligence Committee)
And does this report actually say that other reports were untrue?
I would say you're the one who's shilling, but you're ha'penny at best.
Mueller
LOL
Never refuted, no matter how much you laugh.
Literally nothing was proven and the main source of the report had his sources state they made it up.
Besides that, sure, not refuted...
Erased phones. Erased laptops. And the emails we forgave show an overwhelming bias. Mueller himself was as dementia riddled as Joe in his testimony retard.
You’re propagandist scum. Trump should deport your commie ass.
At one time exile was a common form of punishment.
This is a really ignorant and retarded thing to keep pushing after we've learned the FBI was listing files as undoscoverable and Barr admitted they didnt search. Not even the IG knew about the hidden files.
Mueller was not independent either retard.
69 Percent of Americans Say American Dream Is Not Dead
"It's not dead, it's resting"
Pining for the fjords.
The Norwegian Blue prefers kipping on it's back! Beautiful bird, lovely plumage!
Pining for the Fiords!!??

I don't think a debt-crash created by dependency on foreign consumerism and stolen ?free? ponies cares one bit about what the people dream of. Venezuala had a dream once too and a lot of faithful followers.
The American Dream resides solely on the definition of America written in the US Constitution.
And 69% (at least) of Democrats say we are already dead, several times over: mass starvation in the 1960s, total economic collapse in the 1970s, extreme air and water pollution, also in the 70s, global climate warming change in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, 2020s, and, of course, the great COVID die off.
69...Nice.
LOL!
Know why the speed limit of sex is 68? Because at 69 you've got to turn around.
Ha. What was the old Carlin bit? 68. You do me and I'll owe you one. 71. 69 with two fingers up your ass.
Might have screwed those up. It's been 30+ years.
I'm luck enough to have seen him live. Only thing I remember is him saying "Ever notice at those anti-abortion rallies? You wouldn't want to fuck any of them anyway!"
Saw him at the arts center in Nashville around 92/93. Was still sharp but getting bitter and combative. Maybe the "fuck the children" era. Great show and as I've gotten older I've grown to understand the anger.
This is the America I know and love. Being here sometimes makes me forget that the angry partisan grievance machine isn’t what average Americans believe. We believe in opportunity. We believe in equal treatment. We believe in tomorrow. We believe that things can get better, even if they aren’t heading in the right direction now (regardless of when “now” has been).
We are great because we choose to be great. We always think we can make things better. And if what we try doesn’t work we try something else, confident that there’s a solution out there and we will find it. That is what America is. And it’s a beautiful, wonderful thing.
That's not America, that's people.
The People are America. Unfortunately the people in power and their toadies don't think America is that great. They think it sucks. They think America is overrun by vermin. They think that imports make us poor. They think that taxes make us wealthy. They think they can make America great again if they kick out people in search of the American dream, if they export more than they import, and if they hike taxes on imports. Only then will America be great again.
Fuck those people.
Fuck those people.
And here folks, we have Sarc's actual thoughts on the majority of the American people, those who voted against the progtarded shit he pushes here and seemingly believes in. "Fuck those people."
That’s American people, Roberta. Whether people born here or people drawn here by the lure of our optimism and grit and desire to be both good and great who have joined our national experiment.
America is our people, and they have made us great.
Optimism and grit is a weird way to describe welfare seeking. Need the videos of them demanding free shit dumdum?
The subject is “American people”, which is what the “our” refers back to. As incredibly ignorant as you are, I at least thought you’d be able to understand third-grade-level English. Apparently I was wrong.
Mexico is its people, and they have made their nation…… a shithole.
Lol. Yes, let’s import them all!
Ah yes, the “immigrants will destroy our culture” idiocy.
In the entire history of the world, immigrants have never changed the dominant culture that they joined. Ever.
Shit, just math would indicate that, even if you assumed that none of those who come here did so because they admire and want to join our culture, they could not change it.
How many immigrants would it take to overcome the 350 million of us already here? And, mind you, they would all have to have the exact same change in mind when they did so.
immigrants have never changed the dominant culture that they joined.
Mr. Creepingbear down the street would like a word with you.
immigrants have never changed the dominant culture that they joined.
The Britons and Picts would like a word with you about the Saxons.
That's about right. Around 31% of eligible voters voted for Trump, whose motto is to Make American Great Again.
Obviously that means they, like Trump, think America sucks. I mean, how can American be great if people without papers have opportunities to better their lives? How can America be great if people without papers get due process? How can America be great if people without papers have access to the American Dream? It can't. It can only be great again if everyone without papers is forcibly removed from society. Then we can be great. Again.
Pour Sarc.
Get drunker.
What a mess.
How can America be great if it is not Haiti?
America is at its best when people are free to just be.
So says the lockdown Karen. Go fuck yourself.
With a little welcoming support, one generation away from illegal and they'll all be running their own businesses. At least in Maine.
Poor Rachel Maddow.
So, "fuck those people," right, Sarc? "Fuck those people."
How about fuck you, instead, asshole.
The American dream is still around. The ability to achieve the American dream is dead.
Only for losers.
But if losers can't win, then life is unfair!
Molly is proof any retard can fake having a PhD.
PhD, piled higher and deeper
Seriously some of the smartest people I know have PhD, as do all of the dumbest
You know, you could try to be just a bit more retarded. I'm not sure you're retarded enough yet. You're close, but not quite there, Molly.
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair, molly.
Lol. Goddamn, you are miserable.
I wonder if something happened within the past 365 days to reinforce that belief.
Mass deportations of people seeking the American dream?
Tell you what, Sarc, all the immigrants truly seeking the American dream can stay. But all the leftist activists who tell us they hate America have to leave.
Why stop with immigrants? Force everyone to take a loyalty test. If they fail then kick them out. Start with every economist since they oppose tariffs. Then anyone who doesn’t believe that every illegal is a criminal. Add to that anyone who doesn’t believe that Haitians are eating cats. And round it off with anyone who doesn’t believe the 2020 election was stolen. Basically only MAGAs can stay. Sound good?
You should start fact checking the BS you absorb from MSNBC.
I’m going from what people in these comments say every day.
Cite? Because your comments seem to mirror Maddow.
So, "fuck those people", right, Sarc?
You fucking retard.
Try this: if you claim to have ANY support for individual liberty, then are you open to defending it?
Those poor tda victims. They just wanted a few apartment buildings for themselves.
"69 Percent of Americans Say American Dream Is Not Dead."
That depends where you live.
If you live in such progressive hell holes like CA, Il, NY, MA or NJ, then the American dream is as dead as a doornail.
If you live in sane states, then the American dream is alive and well.
Damn those optimistic people in flyover country!
If you live in those five states you are contributing more to America than every red state except Texas and Florida combined. But I guess “prosperous, educated, successful, and productive” is Uncle Jay’s definition of “hell hole” and “poor, undereducated, struggling, and stagnant” is Nirvana.
I mean, who would choose a nice, clean suburb with a good school system and a diverse and competitive job market when you can live in a trailer park in Mississippi where your job opportunity is whether to make your minimum wage working at WalMart, McDonalds, or Dollar General?
Because if you have a lot of opportunities to advance your life and prospects, in Jay’s world, that is when the American Dream is “dead as a doornail”.
Thanks, but I’ll take a successful state over the welfare queen states every day and twice on Sunday.
Poor retarded Nelson. Guess which areas are having failing schools that even those dirty trailer park states are having better outcomes?
How are you not a standard bog shitlib again?
“ Guess which areas are having failing schools that even those dirty trailer park states are having better outcomes?”
Tell me you are ignorant without actually saying it! The quality of education in those states is far better than in virtually all red states, which you would discover if you ever tried to learn something before you “spoke and removed all doubt”.
That’s what it means to rank high in education, which all five of those states do. And most of the red states (which perennially dominate the bottom third of rankings in poverty, education, median income, and opportunity) do poorly.
“ K-12 performance looks at graduation rates, test scores, and reading/math proficiency.”

“ Several factors influence incomes at the state level, such as educational attainment, unemployment rate, and strength of the local economy.”
https://worldpopulationreview. com/state-rankings/median-household-income-by-state
“ How are you not a standard bog shitlib again?”
Because I form opinions based on facts and data, not bias, anger, and ignorance like you. Plus, of course, I hold many opinions (especially about the economy) that oppose liberal beliefs.
You really don’t care if people see how ignorant and mindless you are, on a daily basis no less? Try learning first and posting second. It will save me the energy of trying (usually without success) to decrease your ignorance every day.
Thoughts on open borders and culture from an immigrant.

Is anyone else starting to be slightly angered by the garbage constantly spewed that Democrats and leftists are the educated and highly intelligent and the republicans and anyone not democrats are the uneducated idiots?
Get the fuck off your high horse you pompous arrogant cunts and see how smart you are standing beside those you think you can look down on.
"Predictably, Republicans are more optimistic about the tariff increases than Democrats, but perhaps surprisingly, the Trump administration's tariff policies are "unpopular even among those with less education and income, the groups purported to benefit" the most."
Autumn, You should open your eyes because all the doom and economic collapse and inflation touted by the supposedly highly educated and intelligent has not occurred.
Ok Jesse.
Poor Rachel Maddow.
You should be angered because you appear to side with the Dems and yet you most likely are not one of the higher educated highly intelligent and thus you are considered an uneducated deplorable with unacceptable views lumped in with approximately 70% of the country.
It’s cute that you think that 70% of the country believes what MAGAworld does. Delusional, but cute in a “come listen to the guy who thinks the government controls the weather” sort of way.
Nelson, sweet retarded libtard, do you know what an 80/20 issue is?
Jesse, sweet retarded hatemonger, who is talking about 80/20 issues here? I mean, Christ, the only number he posted was 70.
He lies about everything.
Regardless, anyone who thinks that Trump's tariffs will be a good thing is economically illiterate, and if most people who think so are cultists, well, that is to be expected.
I have contempt for your attitude, "you think you know more than me, just because you know more than me".
For MAGAs, ignorance is strength. That’s why they steadfastly refuse to learn anything about economics, history, math, logic, or anything else for that matter. They know that if they educated themselves they would see that most of what they believe is shit. They wouldn’t be able to defend Trump anymore. So they remain willfully ignorant and proud of it.
You and shrike are literally climate alarmist at this point, just with economics lol.
You've shown your ignorance daily here for a decade. Fucking funny though.
You have never once, since the day I joined, shown anyone’s ignorance but your own.
Perhaps that’s what you meant? Nah, that would require you to be self-aware.
Lol. Holy fuck. I provide more links and references than you ever have buddy. You just provide MSNBC narratives.
How many of your predictions have come true buddy?
Do you jus shout stuff thinking the louder it is makes it true? Lol.
Sorry I dont link coloring books for you.
“ Lol. Holy fuck. I provide more links and references than you ever have buddy”
See, if you’re trying to make a convincing argument, the idea is to link to reputable and objective sites like I do. Linking to propaganda sites like ZeroHedge and biased organizations like Rasmussen is only useful for people like you, who are incapable of processing information that doesn’t present a binary, you’re-right-they’re-wrong narrative.
Providing bad links is the same as providing no links at all. And you usually provide very bad links, if you do it at all.
“ You just provide MSNBC narratives.”
I have never provided MANBC anything. That’s the same as linking ZeroHedge, completely useless except to preach to the choir.
“ How many of your predictions have come true buddy?”
A lot. The thing about predictions is there is always a chance to be wrong. No one is right all the time. In the words of Mythbusters, failure is always an option.
There is a vast difference between what I do, which is take available information and extrapolate a likely outcome, and what you do, which is state your preferred outcome, then deny you were wrong when it inevitably turns out to be wrong. Extreme views like yours aren’t conducive to successful projection.
“ Do you just shout stuff thinking the louder it is makes it true? Lol.”
No, I make detailed posts walking through the logic, data, and conclusions they suggest. Literally every post you make on tariffs is “ it hasn’t happened so you’re wrong”, when it has been pointed out to you repeatedly, with details, what the potential horizon is for price increases and how long they would be likely to continue without any new changes. We keep saying prices will start rising now through the next month or so and will continue to rise as long as tariffs remain high enough (like the “deals” Trump made with China and Vietnam), how easy it will be to get around them, and how erratic and unsettled the tariff landscape will be (and with Trump, erratic is guaranteed).
“ Sorry I dont link coloring books for you.”
You do. Simplistic analyses that ignore relevant factors to reinforce the confirmation bias of their readers. ZeroHedge is literally the coloring book of analysis.
Educating myself by going to Harvard and being indoctrinated with extreme leftist and authoritarian viewpoints is going to make my current viewpoints shit? Only if I allow myself to be gullible, naive and gaslit that sadly you have done. Except, you never went to Harvard.
I'm not talking about viewpoints. I'm talking about learning and thinking. If you knew anything about economics or history you wouldn't praise Trump's economic policies. If you knew anything about math you'd reject his Big Ballbusting Bill. If you knew anything about logic you wouldn't fall for fallacious arguments. From what I've seen, MAGAs reject learning and thinking. They're all about the feelz. Just like the Obamabots during his presidency. It's a cult of personality that rejects thought and embraces idiocy.
You know nothing. Name one topic you've been right on.
Just because you agree with the retards on MSNBC doesn't actually make you intelligent. Your a parrot of popular discourse. That's it. Nothing more. You prove it daily here.
When given books and articles you literally refuse to read them. Yes I can cite your refusal. You choose ignorance in life.
So, "fuck those people", right, Sarc?
Isn’t that Reasons position?
What does the data say shrike?
LOL alrighty then. Pull your head out of the ground and look, the doom and gloom predicted by the experts, your overlords, has not occurred. Making them and you look like the cultists.
Not to mention the regurgitation of the words of the day by all the complicit "experts" predictions that NEVER are correct.
Sorry for your loss. Stop being bitter and perhaps you will start thinking more sensibly?
I have no overlords, though it's reasonable to assume that when someone thinks someone else is following overlords, it's because they think, based on their personal experience, that's what people in general and themselves in particular do.
I have sufficient expertise on my own. And effects take a short while to percolate through.
Do you recall Trump's formula for determining tariff rates, btw?
“ the doom and gloom predicted by the experts, your overlords, has not occurred”
Of course not. The we are just now entering the beginning of the time window for the effects of the tariffs to be felt. 90-120 days, at a minimum, for orders to arrive in the US ports and have the tariffs applied to them (which will turn a profitable order into a loss). That’s when prices will start to rise, with those who were willing to take a loss on the first order coming on board when the second arrives. By October, things should look pretty grim.
“ has not occurred.”
You mean the things that most people pointed out wouldn’t happen for at least 3-4 months after the tariffs were implemented (and probably closer to 8-10) haven’t happened yet, barely four months after the tariffs were implemented? Gee, I wonder why? Oh, right. Because only the ignorant thought that the fallout from tariffs would happen before the first pre-tariff order even arrived in port.
Since most orders have 90-120 day lead times, why would you expect to see impacts before 90-120 days? Oh, because you don’t understand pricing strategies and international supply chains.
I’ve made numerous, highly detailed posts about what the window for the start of higher prices is likely to be, how long it’s likely to keep rising, and when it’s likely to plateau. I can’t do another, so if you want to educate yourself look in one of the past articles on tariffs.
And I would point out that, while I have been well-educated, my posts are based on my experience in international supply chains, not theory.
Look at the retard economics alarmist continue to lie and push the date of his prediction further and further out. Lol.
Cite one of your posts. Just one. Because you still dont get what actually causes inflation.
The fact that you say they will "keep rising" also proves you dont know what the fuck you're talking about since a new tax is in impulse, one time adjustment retard.
God damn. You know fucking nothing.
“ continue to lie and push the date of his prediction further and further out. Lol”
Look at the retard economist not be able to remember or understand any of the detailed posts I’ve made.
I have always predicted that the increases will begin when the first pre-tariff orders arrive and get taxed, making a profitable order into a loss instantly. Prices will continue to rise (on mass produced goods) as more companies have their orders arrive. By October, things will probably peak and plateau through the middle of next year, when more anti-profit nonsense will probably be included in the budget.
And that’s just assuming that Trump doesn’t do anything else in the meantime. The more countries he raises tariffs on, the more companies will have to raise prices to pay for them. And that’s doesn’t even take into account the companies that will choose to go through the costly and time-consuming process of moving their production away from a country that now has high tariffs to a country that has (and hopefully for them will continue to have) low tariffs.
That country won’t be the US, because there are way too many countries that cost way less for companies to produce in. And that’s American companies that will be hurt, with little or no restoring of production.
“ Cite one of your posts. Just one. Because you still dont get what actually causes inflation.”
Oh for fuck’s sake, Jesse. You have responded to many of them. Stop acting like you don’t know.
There isn’t just one cause of inflation. You know that, right? Policies like Biden’s disastrous deficit spending (and, both in his first term and now, like Trump) can cause it several ways, but the most direct is to inject more money into the economy through government spending. The interest rate is another way to influence inflation.
Another way is to tax businesses so that they have to raise prices to make a profit. And that’s what is happening now.
Can you truly not understand that there can be more than one possible cause for things? Are you so simple that you can only comprehend “A leads to Z” and not “A, B, C, and D can lead to Z, as well as simultaneous occurrences of L, M, N, and O.”
Economics is complicated. You are simplistic (on many levels).
“ The fact that you say they will "keep rising" also proves you dont know what the fuck you're talking about since a new tax is in impulse, one time adjustment retard.”
And yet when and how a company chooses to respond to that adjustment is varied. Some companies, with larger reserves and a strategic plan that involves capturing market share, will eat their first order to be able to keep their prices the same. Companies with less in reserve will have to raise theirs (those are the price increases that will happen first, right around now) and the company that can take the one-time loss will capture those customers because they delayed their price increases. As that strategy becomes less possible due to the depletion of reserves, those companies will increase their prices as well, but with an increased market share.
And that’s just one scenario in which price increases will be delayed. Companies that have larger inventories (more common since COVID) will be able to sell those items, which never got hit with the tariff, at a profit at the lower price.
You seem to think every company will raise their prices all at the same time. That’s idiotic. And price increases are measured economy-wide, so when 10% of companies raise their prices the impact will be small (like now), but as more companies are forced to raise their prices, the change will increase.
Can you truly not understand more than a simplistic and “all or nothing” concept of the economy? Can you really not fathom that it is a huge, complex things and companies, by acting in their own interests and based on their available resources, will behave differently? And that when you change something as fundamental as the cost of doing business, that it will inevitably raise the price of buying things?
Jesus, man. Can you be any more clueless?
Pretty amazing what Trump has been able to accomplish in six months, no?
Yeah. Started several trade wars. Issued too many unlawful presidential decrees to count. Sent masked federal agents out to kidnap people off the street. Spat on Constitutionality protected rights like due process and birthright citizenship. Destroyed many businesses that depend on buying imports. Demonized anyone who looks different, talks different or worships different. Stoked partisan hatred. Turned today’s GOP into the Democratic Party of the 80s. Sowed distrust in institutions like education, elections and the media. Used his presidential powers for lawfare. Set many terrible precedents that will be abused by the next Democratic administration. Yeah, he’s accomplished a lot. None of it good.
And yet, the dream's still alive and well.
The reality, and I’m not blaming Trump because it’s been a long time coming, is that, going forward, children doing better that their parents will be the exception not the rule. Things like home ownership and saving for retirement are beyond the reach of the majority of young adults. The days of living high on the hog thanks to rampant deficit spending will soon be over. Those who are under thirty are especially fucked. At some point the debt will hit the fan and the government will be forced to hike taxes and cut spending, or inflate the debt away. Either way the people around when that happens will be economically fucked. *shrug*
I know. Let's import more foreigners and ship all jobs overseas like they've done since the early 90s. Maybe the status quo will fix things right dumdum?
You keep demanding higher income taxes to boot. Hilarious.
It’s not like sarc has any income to tax.
This has been the same way for every generation after the Boomers. They took more than they deserved and forced the younger generations to pay for it and now the the hens are coming home to roost.
Yup.
What was “taken” and how was it done?
Remember when you joined shrike in touting the stock market, claimed transitory inflation, and said his foreign born/government jobs program was a good economy? What's it like now after 6 months buddy?
Get a puppy or a kitten? They can bring a smile to the most bitter faces...
I wouldn't trust Sarc"fuck those people"asmic with either, much less a goldfish.
And a meal to the hatians
The previous so called president: forced lockdowns, closed schools for two years, forced unproven and deadly vaccine on people against their will, canceled holidays, shuttered businesses, created a censorship of immense power and control, with the effects still being felt.
All this from a brain dead human posing as president where those in the background were actually running things.
The more we find out the worse it gets. Otto Penn ain't just an idea.
Very great points!
Was not FJb acting like a dictator?
“ Pretty amazing what Trump has been able to accomplish in six months, no?”
I would use “terrifying for the future of our country” rather than “amazing”, but yeah.
Investors seem to feel otherwise.
It is amazing watching them continuously double down on being wrong. Almost like it's a religion to them...
I’m not talking about the stock market. That will remain strong as long as companies make profits.
Remind me, what happens to profits when costs rise? And as the buying power of consumers drop due to the profit-maintaining price increases, what happens to revenue?
I would suggest watching stocks that sell mass-produced goods manufactured in China and Vietnam, since the costs of production just jumped. So Target, Amazon, WalMart, etc. Especially around October, when most companies will have had to adjust prices to match costs.
What actual data is terrifying to you dumdum? Loss of government jobs is the one i bet you fear.
My muted stalker has arrived to shit up the place and leave turds on my comments. I guess it thinks it’s marking its territory. By smearing poop all over the place.
So, "fuck those people" who you claim are stalking you, right, Sarc?
Ideas™ !
You were shit stirring all day lol.
Always with hypocrisy and projection with your drunk retarded ass. Hope you lose a hand with drunk fireworks tonight.
69% huh?
So that's 31% that doesn't.
Sigh.
Y'know, I'm no MAGA. I'm OG#NT. But the more I see it all unfold, the more I come to a conclusion. America has a problem, and that problem is Progressivism. Liberals, Leftists, Reason dot com, whatever you want to call it. Which is a nice way of saying Marxists and Communists.
I understand the philosophical differences. But I have never fully understood why they hate America and Americans so much. They seem to hate us on general principle but for no articulable reason.
But here's what I'm coming to understand about MAGA:
If the left-wing hates us for no reason, or at least one they won't admit, then it's far past time to GIVE them a reason. If only to draw them out and strip the curtain they hide behind.
MAGA operates under this mentality (possibly even unintentionally), I think. And if I can honestly give Trump an accolade, he's certainly forced a shocking number of Americans to admit who among them genuinely hates America and why. He compelled them to expose their reason. One we suspected, but we couldn't prove. Now they're open about it.
I defy any Reason writer - Katherine, Peter, Eric, Jake, Billy, Jack, Emma, Liz, Ceej, JD, Damon, Joe, Autumn - to come right here in this thread and unequivocally tell all their readers, "I do not hate America."
They won't do it. They pretend to be libertarians, but they will NEVER betray their progressivism in such a way.
One thing I've noticed is that MAGAs who uses words like "Marxist" and "Communist" don't have a clue of what the words mean. They're just epithets used to describe anyone who disagrees with Trump.
As far as willfully ignorant MAGAs are concerned (redundant I know) if you have a basic understanding of economics and oppose tariffs, if you think our current immigration system is absurd and encourages people to enter the country illegally, if you think people who just want to work should be allowed a legal way to come here and work, if you oppose rule by presidential decree, if you think the Constitution means what it says, if you think it's irresponsible to make cuts to revenue without matching cuts to spending, if you think people should be allowed to do whatever they want in the privacy of their own homes as long as they're not hurting anyone else, if masked federal agents grabbing people off the street concerns you, if deploying Marines within the country concerns you, if you disagree with Trump on anything, then in the ignorant mind of a MAGA you're a Marxist Communist.
So "fuck those people", eh, Sarc?
No, retard. Let's make it simple, and also not get stuck on high school social studies definitions.
If you think you are somehow entitled to the wealth of others, just by drawing breath, and you want government to get it for you, you are indeed a socialist/communist.
Your juvenile definition of 'socialism' literally means anyone who is not an anarchist is a socialist.
For example: If you get in trouble with the law, do you think you are entitled to a fair trial? Well, who pays for the judges and the courthouse? Hmm?
Pretty much every libertarian, who is not an anarchist, would agree that providing a fair system of justice is a justifiable duty of government. Are they all socialists?
"For example: If you get in trouble with the law, do you think you are entitled to a fair trial? Well, who pays for the judges and the courthouse? Hmm?"
I thought we'd moved past "Streets are just socialism", but apparently, not all of us have.
Something can be non-anarchic and NOT be socialism as well.
A much better definition of socialism is:
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/socialism
Oh but wait. The dictionary is now 'woke', right?
There are very few legit socialists in this country. The people who want government to provide things to them, beyond minimally acceptable things like courts and roads, they would be called 'social democrats' in Europe. They want a mixed economy. That is where most Americans would likely land. Not socialists.
“ If you think you are somehow entitled to the wealth of others, just by drawing breath, and you want government to get it for you, you are indeed a socialist/communist.”
Well then most red states are socialist/communist. By and large, blue states are net contributors to federal programs and red states are net receivers. I think of them more as welfare queens, but if you want to call them socialists I can’t stop you.
...are you calling Social Security is simple welfare? That is the vast majority of the difference. Otherwise, military bases are your idea of welfare. Those are the extent of the difference.
...and it is amusing watching blue states slowly realize that MS has a better education system than any of them do.
The concept of taking benefits from others without contributing is what the “welfare queen” label refers to, with the additional inference of living a lavish lifestyle funded by others.
Red states dominate the poorest states in the country and claim the majority of social benefits. You can run through most social safety net programs and, if they are means-tested or are to help the poor, red states will be drawing much more in benefits than they provide. This is because red states are much poorer than blues states, hence their “net taker” status vs. blue states’ “net contributor” status.
“ ...and it is amusing watching blue states slowly realize that MS has a better education system than any of them do.”
Mississippi is literally one of the worst states in terms of education.
“ K-12 performance looks at graduation rates, test scores, and reading/math proficiency.”
https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/public-school-rankings-by-state
#46 out of 51 (because it includes DC) is a “better education system”? With four of the five that are worse being other red states and the only blue one being New Mexico (which is always near the bottom)
You don’t seem to have a firm grasp on what “ a better education system” means.
I love how the dedicated left continues to use this retarded grad school paper that didnt remove SS and Medicare from the analysis. And they are all too dumb to ask why retirees would move from expensive states to cheap states.
Almost 20 fucking years of this retarded talking point.
How about Medicaid? Red states dominate the bottom of the poverty rates.
“also not get stuck on high school social studies definitions.”
Thing is, words mean things. Even words like communism and marxism.
Ironically you’re behaving like a communist leftist right now by changing word definitions to suit you while deliberately ignoring what the words mean. You’re just like the people you hate. What a dumbass.
Notice how sarc - aka Eric Boehm - could not bring himself to say, "I do not hate America."
Because he hates America.
What, exactly, is your definition of “hating America”? It seems to just be “anyone from the center-right to the hard left”. Since you aren’t America, nor are your beliefs, thinking you are wrong doesn’t equate to hating America.
Didn't Tuccille argue pretty much the opposite just the other day?
"The reason why they call it the American Dream is because you have to be asleep to believe it." George Carlin.
You know he was a comedian, right?
You know what's really funny, people who vote for and elect ignorant, incompetent corrupt politicians who get into office and sell themselves like common whores.
And they get re-elected again and again.
Maybe the people really do suck.
And a pretty crappy one. I won't say he stole all of his jokes, m but about the top 90% of them
George Carlin was given the Mark Twain prize for American Humor.
If he was so bad then his lifelong career as a comedian should have ended quickly.
Obviously some people feel insulted by his remarks
Too bad.
His last few years were painfully terrible. He was great at a point. He then became a tedious bore.
This is all Trump's fault - NO, WAIT!
Sort of makes me curious -
What was the survey definition of "American"?
Did they include illegals and other criminals?
How many of the unhappy actually paid income taxes last year?
How many of the crybabies were democrats? (we know that)
Can we set up a gofundme for those unhappy souls and fly them out to anywhere? If we confiscate the democrat campaign funds and the ivy endowments there should be enough money.
69 Percent of Americans Say American Dream Is Not Dead….. but by Thor’s hammer we’ll put a stake through its heart trying to force that outcome for the 31% that won’t put in the effort themselves!
