Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill' Sets Up Another GOP Budget Showdown
Almost exactly one year after Congress swore off self-inflicted fiscal crises, we're back to the same tired theatrics.

Almost exactly one year after Congress swore off self-inflicted fiscal crises—promising to embrace "regular order" and "responsible governance" and "showing up for work"—we're back to the same tired theatrics. This time the dysfunction isn't just about spending and debt; it's a preview of the Trump administration's unpredictable rule and the GOP's ongoing internal identity crisis.
At the heart of this melodrama is a fight between two Republican factions. One side is dominated by tax reformers, who are pushing for a single "big, beautiful bill" to encapsulate the entire GOP legislative agenda: tax cuts, spending cuts, energy reforms, and border security. They find this approach appealing because in theory it's easier to get a coalition together once and use the budget reconciliation process to shovel through everything that can plausibly be considered a fiscal matter without having to reckon with the Senate's 60-vote filibuster. (The GOP will have a 53–47 Senate majority and a 220–215 House advantage, at the very most.) They also have one strong wind at their backs: the prospect of a truly terrifying New Year's Eve if the 2017 tax cuts are allowed to lapse at the end of 2025. But tax bills are complicated, and budget bills are more complicated still.
On the other side are the immigration hawks, who want to leverage a slim majority to push through a nativist wish list, including border wall funding and stricter limits on legal immigration. They say tax matters can be dealt with in a second bill later on, offering the classic "hamburger today for a dollar tomorrow" deal. This type of deal is almost never honored recently, so the tax reformers are right to be nervous. This isn't just a battle over legislative priorities; it's a referendum on what kind of party the GOP wants to be.
The tax people—for all their flaws—are at least speaking a language recognizable to voters who care about reducing the federal fiscal footprint. Tax cuts mean more freedom to spend your own money, less government interference in economic decisions, and maybe even a little less red tape. The immigration folks are another story. Their playbook is about stronger government controls. Walls, bans, and ever more draconian enforcement mechanisms don't just restrict immigration; they restrict liberty. The human cost is borne not just by migrants but by Americans who find themselves living under an ever-growing surveillance state.
Right now, the tax team has the upper hand. The one-bill idea has emerged as the favorite approach among GOP leaders. They reason that combining tax reform and immigration measures into a single package might streamline negotiations and reduce opportunities for internal rebellion. Big bills are subject to their own set of problems, of course, including expensive sops to buy individual votes and the inevitable situation where no one has time to read the legislation before passing it because it is simply more words than anyone can process. While we can be sure the bill will be big, beauty is—as always—in the eye of the beholder.
Enter newly inaugurated President Donald Trump, the wild card in chief. As usual, everyone's waiting to see what he wants because no one really knows. He may not know—one day he'll say he supports one bill, the next he'll say two might be a better bet. Will he side with the fiscal conservatives who want to keep their focus on tax reform? Or will he indulge the immigration hardliners, even if it means blowing up the broader GOP legislative strategy? This is the high-stakes drama of D.C. now and for the next four years. Trump's unpredictability is his best tool for winning the battle he cares about—the fight for the spotlight. He continues to revel in his starring role as the final arbiter of GOP priorities.
***
The bigger fiscal picture is downright grim. The federal debt held by the public stands at $29 trillion, a number so large it's hard to comprehend. Last year's debt ceiling deal was supposed to impose new spending limits, but Congress is already finding creative ways around them.
Budget gimmicks and off-book maneuvers ensure that the spending spree continues unabated while taxpayers are left holding the bag.
This isn't the first time Congress has stumbled into a fiscal showdown. For decades, budget disputes have served as proxy battles for deeper ideological divides. Whether it was the government shutdowns of the 1990s, the debt ceiling standoffs of the Obama years (and their remix with different partisan alliances under Trump), or the endless fights over appropriations bills, the same pattern repeats: lofty rhetoric about fiscal discipline, followed by backroom deals that kick the can further down the road. Both parties share blame for the long-term erosion of accountability. Democrats keep calling for expansive government programs. Republicans refuse to tackle entitlements—the real drivers of debt—while still clamoring for tax cuts.
Some GOP members have tried to sound the alarm about the long-term consequences of runaway spending. But their warnings are falling on deaf ears. Instead, the focus remains on immediate political wins, with the party's factions locked in a battle of priorities. The immigration hawks insist on wall funding as their red line, while the tax cutters demand that any legislation include deep reductions for corporations and high-income earners.
Our eternal budget week is more than just a legislative circus: It's a window into the soul of the GOP and a harbinger of what's to come. If Republicans can't agree on a coherent strategy with their current trifecta, what happens when the gridlock inevitably returns? If they do choose to punt on fiscal matters in Trump's first days, what hope is there for meaningful reform down the line?
The Trump era promised disruption, and it has delivered—but not in the way fiscal reformers might have hoped. Instead of shaking up the status quo in favor of smaller government and greater freedom, it has created new avenues for dysfunction and centralized power. The GOP's inability to govern effectively is both a symptom and a cause of this larger problem. Until the party figures out what Republicans stand for—beyond just winning the next news cycle—you can expect the chaos to continue.

Tax bills are complicated on purpose .
Almost exactly one year after Congress swore off self-inflicted fiscal crises, we're back to the same tired theatrics.
When did Schumer do this a year ago? A lot of bills never made it to the senate floor including spending bills.
I see KMW still doesn't realize the illegal immigrant problem is also a government spending problem.
The US totally isn't giving them free food, healthcare, housing, a phone and internet, plus a monthly allowance, and think of how those foodtrucks contribute to the economy.
Plus, who will clean the backyard pools and pick the berries for America's smoothies if illegal entry is stopped? The government will have to step up.
It certainly seems like it would be easy enough to do both. Better border security, and simultaneously reduce the federal budget.
Estimated cost of the entire southern border wall, per NPR: $11.5B. (Now, I will grant that NPR are known Trump fans, so their numbers may be untrustworthy.)
Total 2023 foreign aid: $68B. We give money to the UAE. We give money to Qatar. We give money to Saudi Arabia. We give money to fucking Canada! The last of those is, so far as I'm aware, a godsdamned first world country with their own economy. I don't have anything against Canada except the weather (which is fine, most of the time they keep it up there to themselves) but why is the US dispensing foreign aid to them? The first three are prime suppliers of the Black Gold. They have plenty of money.
That's one program of many. I refuse to believe that there are no agencies in Washington that we couldn't simply do without entirely. Almost all of them could undoubtedly take cuts without any loss to ordinary Americans. And many ordinary Americans would probably benefit from their absence or reduction.
I think DOGE's goal of trimming a trillion dollars from the budget is low hanging fruit. The feds spent $6.9T in 2024. They spent $4.4T in 2019, and I don't particularly recall that year being some sort of apocalyptic hellscape, or even particularly short of federal intervention, both nationally and worldwide. I'm willing to believe that if DOGE really put some effort into it, they could trim three trillion from the budget.
The 600-pound gorillas of the budget are Social Security, Medicare, and "Defense". Anyone who is not proposing cuts to those programs is not serious about reducing the deficit and debt. Everything else combined is change behind the sofa cushions.
They will do a few token cuts and proclaim victory over the "real" big spenders.
Fatass Donnie MO = overpromise and never deliver.

They did to some extent. You're going to have to update your old 2017 trolls. Lazy shit like that is why Open Society won't take you back.
Colombians send their version of AF1 to pick up border hoppers, at Trump's request, pay for it themselves. Film at 11.
Sure, absolutely. My point was mostly to point out that we could cover the bill to defend our borders by spending less defending other country's borders. Or by making it part of, y'know, defense spending, where it would be effectively a rounding error.
We give foreign aid to China too.
And our technology. Not even always stolen.
Fed person just got arrested for Chinese espionage.
We give money to fucking Canada!
Yes, but Canada funds gives money to the US and funds a few states welfare programs too (sometimes more than the US, sometimes less), so that particular stupidity is reciprocal.
I would say Canada saving money by riding on the US's defense coattails is far more egregious.
Good old Chuck Schumer. Reason's fiscal hawk.
Is it still gaslighting if the intended targets just belly laugh or snort in derision? Asking for a certain magazines' editor-in-chief.
Legislation is the legislature's arena, not the President's. No doubt Trump can influence them, but the central thesis of this article blames Trump for legislative dysfunction.
This is pretty weak tea. About time you stopped re-using that "Blame-Trump" tea bag and got a fresh one.
Did we read the same article? The one I read said that there's two competing factions in the GOP but because Trump is so unpredictable there's no way to guess what will come out of it. And that's true.
Maybe if you took off your TDS-colored glasses and stopped projecting your bad faith onto everyone who doesn't like Trump you'd see that. You're the one who made the article all about him, not the author.
You just said they blamed this in part on Trump's unpredictability.
Here's a nice quote. See if you can follow along.
IN OTHER WORDS -- and pay attention here, dumbass, it's all down to Trump. It's Trump's fault. Trump is the problem.
That's what I'm talking about. You didn't read the article with an open mind. You read it in bad faith looking for the one paragraph that is critical of Trump, and then pretend the rest of the article doesn't exist.
Why you must be psych
otic!Blame it on the alcohol. And being a retarded leftist in full denial.
Most of the article is mostly about Congress, but you cite one paragraph and claim it's all about Trump. Doesn't take a psychic to see you're operating in bad faith. Then again if you didn't then you wouldn't fit in, which you do.
It takes a psychic to KNOW what you claimed to know.
*Sarc makes a bad faith accusation/troll*
*Promptly accuses others of bad faith*
Yup, looks like the beginning of day two of Sarc's all-liquid weekend.
You’re the runner up poster child for bad faith arguments. Right behind Pedo Jeffy. You are, however, primary poster child for severe, life long, bitter alcoholics. So at least you’ve got that going for you.
Here's something you apparently are not aware of. A lot of articles, stories, and reporting begin with a short executive summary, often called the title.
Then they add in supporting arguments, background, and other material, all leading up to a rehash of the summary, but now referencing the supporting material,
See what I did there? I quoted the title and conclusion, so you don't have any excuses to not find them. Guess what -- both blame Trump.
Now go ahead and tell me what I read, and how, and what I didn't read.
Sarc! Put down that bottle, it's empty already, and answer!
In sarc’s defense, he’s very dumb.
Nicely succinct. And yes, everything about the writing follows that journalism 101 layout with just a hint of the libertarian perspective. (status quo in favor of smaller government)
Well doh! Similar Christian National Socialists in 1941 scanned articles for slights real or perceived of their Fuhrer, on the G Waffen Bush lemma that "yer either with us or agin' us." Still, pointing out their errors directly, so they can sputter and hiss in plain view of folks not yet acquainted with the (X) Mute Loser button, helps. It shows that this is still a libertarian magazine despite management turning it into a San Francisco sidewalk for Republican MAGAts to crap on.
We don’t sock puppet, you stupid, senile, old pinko cunt. That’s for you leftists.
"Christian National Socialists"
Sorry dude, but the Nazi's were goat-worshipping pagans and euphorics like you.
This. They were all about the All Father.
All three of the mooted sockpuppets Sarcasmic might be responding to are pathetic looter fanatics here to infiltrate and smear the LP--rather than get their parties to shorten platforms and avoid being knocked out of a race by libertarian spoiler votes cast AGAINST looter fanatic planks. People with integrity are a minority, but do have sense enough to vote FOR the freedom we want. MAGAts evade that fact at their peril.
What about the girl bulliers Hank?
"mooted sockpuppets Sarcasmic
Say, is Hank Sarcasmic's dad?
They won't admit to the GOPe or their manufactured opposition. Neither will sarc. Oddly those are the ones they call the good conservatives.
If only all republicans could be like Romney, Murkowski, Kinzinger and the rest of the RINO bunch. And just imagine how great things would be if the senate was full of Jeff Flakes and John McCains.
It also seems like both factions described as at odds are pretty close in their goals. Those seeking to reform immigration and oust illegal immigrants can do so without massive spending hikes and there is no reason to believe they can't more than offset any increases with cuts elsewhere. Seems like an easy place for reconciliation. More realistic is a problem with establishmentarians in the party refusing to allow cuts to general pork, entitlements/welfare, and the MIC. There's too many Republicans eager to send a bunch of money to Ukraine, Israel, and other places to feed their defense contractor donors.
The elephant in the livingroom here is that no Democrat can be expected to get on board with even limited cuts. When one party is unified and completely opposed to reasonable policy you can't expect much progress, especially when the party you're counting on has a number of regular defectors. Maybe Reason could start calling out Democrats for being absolute unyielding shitbags who use the media to declare Republicans guilty for their own unwillingness to compromise in any way that doesn't ratchet us to socialism.
Yes, what is the immigration reform policy proposed by the 215 House Democrats? It would be nice to have a "discussion" but one side doesn't seem to want to engage.
Their policy is to let everyone in who wants to come here and stay, with no restrictions and illusory "vetting". They are absolutists on this, so it is pointless to "engage".
and to fast track their 'path to citizenship' (but not so much their cultural integration)
The Dem immigration policy the same as the anarco-communist no-borders policy advocated by the OTHER looter infiltrators whose moronic candidates lose thanks to libertarian spoiler votes. That dawg quit hunting first week of November. Packing the census results with refugees from BIPARTISAN laws sending troops to raid banks and confiscate assets all over Latin America because "drugs" (meaning everything but gin and tobacco) for a flood of refugees fleeing economic crashes, recession and unemployment, has failed. Repealing those laws in the USA--thereby firing the traitors our looters bribe to betray their people there--THAT's a solution.
Maybe Reason could start calling out Democrats for being absolute unyielding shitbags who use the media to declare Republicans guilty for their own unwillingness to compromise in any way that doesn't ratchet us to socialism.
First visit to the site, then? 😉
Yeah, newbies come here expecting libertarianism.
Get a load of this grandma killer.
On the other side are the immigration hawks, who want to leverage a slim majority to push through a nativist wish list, including border wall funding and stricter limits on legal immigration.
This is from the people who say they're all for legal immigration and only want to restrict illegal immigration.
KMW is blatantly and deliberately lying on the last point, but since you want to pretend otherwise, why don't you give us an example of these purported stricter limits on legal immigration.
And before you decide to go squealing "xenophobia" in response instead of answering the question, I'd like to remind you that:
Meliana Trump is a legal immigrant.
Usha Vance's parents are legal immigrants.
Elon Musk is a legal immigrant.
Tulsi Gabbard's dad is Samoan
Kash Patel's parents are legal immigrants.
Vivek Ramaswamy's parents are legal immigrants.
My mother is a legal immigrant (to Canada).
My sister-in-law is a legal immigrant (to Canada).
My brother is a legal immigrant.
My sister is a legal immigrant.
But aside from all those examples, MSNBC says they are all racists and xenophobic. Point sarc.
Good observation. It works the same way for drugs. Making all but cigarettes and gin illegal at gunpoint and forcing other countries to follow us into the resulting crashes, depressions and unemployment creates a prohibition problem, which creates a market crash problem, which creates a refugee problem. The Republicans will stop at nothing to also ban gin and cigarettes if they can buy the votes. The Supreme Court says Elon can buy them wholesale. This is begging for more serious bio-weapon "leaks."
Well shit Sarc, if KMW says it’s so then it must be, right?
You really are a stupid, drunk fucktard.
Sigh. Reason hates borders. And, by extension, Reason hates nations. I guess in some version of libertopia, there are no nations or borders, we all get along and trade freely, and all the (L) candidates are gay. But until then...
They're similar in that way to other suicidal cults.
isnt everyone gay already after the Biden years?
all that conversion therapy and month long celebrations of gay... i would thing that if we're not already gay then WE are the problem
"Gay" is so twentieth century. Today, we all create new sexualities.
Seriously, this take continues to be retarded. Republicans have a decent number of members who are interested in doing the things that need to be done (aside from social security/medicare cuts.) They have some bad members that too often side with Democrats and scuttle their ability to initiate cuts. Somehow the Democrats and the "moderate" Republicans aren't the subject of ire for actively resisting positive efforts.
Yeah. It is pretty humorous. We just had a week of chaos and Trump was Hitler, attacks on his outsider appointees, all the people trying to get shit done. Reason complains they want change, then essentially endorsed the status quo while attacking outsiders.
"...The immigration folks are another story. Their playbook is about stronger government controls. Walls, bans, and ever more draconian enforcement mechanisms don't just restrict immigration; they restrict liberty..."
Total and complete bullshit. Vetting those who want to live here is not what assholes like KMW lie about.
Try some honesty or fuck off and die.
Shrike is gonna be pissed. Same with sarc.
Maher stated that China is “kind of an evil empire. And this kind of gets back to the DEI thing, because when you make everything about race, not good. We couldn’t look into the origins of COVID being from the lab — which, now, the CIA, this week, has joined the FBI and many other organizations [in] saying it probably did come from a lab — I said it from the beginning. It’s being studied in this lab where it breaks out, really, we’re going to even wonder about this? Now, maybe it was a bat, but…we couldn’t say that, because The New York Times said to even look into that is racist.”
He continued, “Okay, China’s like the new Islam. We can’t be honest about them because they’re not white. And China, okay, I’m sorry, kids, they do some bad things, China. And we should just recognize that.”
The reason they wanted to shut us up about the lab leak was not wokism. That was just the tool to shut us up. The eal reason was to coverup that Fauci and crew funded the research that created COVID.
I hope Rand Paul continues his Fauci investigations. Fauci is my candidate for most evil medicine man since Mengele.
Is he lawful evil, or chaotic evil?
Nothings going to come of it because we’re up to our tits in creating it. It will show Everyone, everywhere else, that the United States was largely culpable for the global pandemic.

You're a stupid fucking moron.
Everyone else here knows I hate religion - especially Islam. Except you for some reason. Religion is the biggest killer of freedom - even moreso than government (although that is somewhat debatable).
You're the asswipe always covering for Trump's Christo-Fascism.
Bill Maher is right again.
And I never gave a fuck about Covid or where it came from. We worked straight through it. The worst thing that happened to me is that I had to mask up for a big annual meeting. ----- big fucking deal. Not.
You get more ignorant every post. I doubt you read posts outside your little Trump Cult.
Socialism murdered 100 million civilians last century. How many did religion kill? How many religious people are involuntary converts?
Your pedo brain is incapable of understanding any thoughts requiring more than a 5-year old could articulate.
For at least 50,000 years religion had a monopoly on systemic murder. Ritual sacrifice and wars among god-groups were the only institutional/group killers.
see Sir James Frazer.
I should do an on-line class in anthropology for you ignorant hillbillys sometime.
Please, the plural is "hillbillies", you ignorant slut.
Ritual sacrifice and wars among god-groups were the only institutional/group killers.
No. Institutionalized systemic murder happened for far longer and religion had nothing to do with it. Throughout the 1.8 million years when we were H. erectus if the fossil record is any indication, and the last 6 million years if chimp warfare is. Fuck, animals of the same species since the dawn of time have been trying to frag each other.
Just looking at the warrior lifestyles just 60 years ago of modern hunter-gatherer groups like the Amazonian Waorani, the Asmat or Huli of Papua New Guinea, or even the North Sentinel Islanders today shows what a fatuous lie your narrative is. None of them were motivated by religious impulse in their inter-tribal wars. It was always territory and revenge. Every single time.
If anything, religion (with the odd exception of the Mexica), particularly organized religion, has greatly reduced the amount of systemic murder within and between groups. Even Richard Dawkins recognizes this nowadays.
But since you don't give a shit about facts because you're an idiot, riddle me this, Shrike; name the one officially atheist country that DIDN'T brutally murder it's citizens en masse and far in excess of one with an official religion.
Go ahead and try to compare Iran to the Hoxha regime, or the Taliban to Pol Pot.
They just can't stop. Politico talking about violations od the constitution for a 3rd Trump term.

Not like he tweeted there was a new amendment because he said so.
The hyperventilating got to be too much for me, and I gave up reading that halfway through. But wow, that first half was remarkably unhinged. Nearly Hihnged, in fact.
Not like he tweeted there was a new amendment because he said so.
Also, to be fair, Biden didn't tweet that either... just whoever had their hand up his ass that day.
Sullum and Sarcasmic will read that and solemnly nod.
Man, that plane crash in Philadelphia is heart breaking. A young girl on an Air Ambulance flight who had just received life saving treatment and her mother were the passengers, with 4 crew. This one really hits hard.
aye
Yeah, very heartbreaking.
Bad week for air travel in the US, for sure. And yeah, that girl's father must be crushed, right now.
Has Fatass Donnie blamed the little Mexican girl for the crash yet?
It is just a matter of time.
No, he blamed some pedophile Klansman from Georgia... hey wait a second!
Aside from blaming Trump (hi, spastamic!), this article also seems to disparage debate and discussion, as if it would be better to return to the Biden and Obama hive mind which passed Obamacare, the Inflation Restoration Act, and censored social media.
I'd rather have the party in power debating what to do than marching in lockstep to the unseen handlers of a senile crotchety old man.
The duel criticisms of the GOP in the Trump era are that they are slaves to his will, and unwilling to be slaves to his will.
It's just obvious that they hate the party. Might as well say that they want the Dems to rule forever.

The fact is that none of this is good governing. The 2017 TCJA was unnecessary and should be left to die. We need comprehensive immigration reform not some slap together border bill. These all-in-one bills are just another mark of Congress's failure to do the job expected of it in the Constitution.
Parody.
You're free to write the US Treasury a check if you want to pay more.
Immigration reform must start with border security.
The 2017 TCJA was unnecessary and should be left to die.
Cut spending. THEN cut taxes.
(Too complex for Donnie to understand).

Your democrat fellow travelers don’t allow spending cuts. Nor does your master, Soros.
Why not finding spending cuts that have bipartisan supports? Probably because that is hard work, and Congress doesn't like hard work.

Democrats don’t even support spending cuts on defense…
No one to my knowledge has challenged defense spending since Wisconsin's Senator Bill Proxmire left the Senate. The reason is that a lot of defense spending is merely job programs for people.

Congress - and the President - are completely incapable of doing 'comprehensive' anything.
That you think they could shows you to be delusional.
They've completely failed to do 'comprehensive' anything for a hundred years. Instead you get bills larger than encyclopedias that no one has read in full (let alone understood) that are filled with pork and shit for specific pigs.
Take, for example, the last 'continuing resolution' - it was full of garbage, the garbage too up more pages than the actual budget resolution did - and what is was going to be until Musk blew the whistle.
Until those three seats are filled the GOP margin in the House is 217-215.
I can't wait for the GOP cat-fights.
My money is on big-tittied Nancy Mace and her Waffle House instincts.
If only she were 5, huh?
The Trump era promised disruption, and it has delivered—but not in the way fiscal reformers might have hoped. Instead of shaking up the status quo in favor of smaller government and greater freedom, it has created new avenues for dysfunction and centralized power.
This. Small government is the biggest loser of the Trump Era.
How so? Looks like the firings are commencing briskly... Oh right, Nevertrumper KMW just made an evidence-less assertion you can latch on to.
What good are the firings? The federal payroll is something like a half a percent of the budget. So firings aren't going to save money. The laws are the same, and it's the duty of the executive to execute them. Fewer people means the things that already take years, costing us time or lives, will take longer. Things like approval for construction projects or pharmaceuticals will take even more years with fewer people to process them.
I'm all for shrinking government, and we have a government of laws, not men.
So shrinking government means getting rid of laws, not men.
"What good are the firings?"
Wait, fuck, wut? Seriously? Oh wow!
This is why everyone calls you a proggy Democrat, Sarckles.
"The federal payroll is something like a half a percent of the budget. So firings aren't going to save money. The laws are the same, and it's the duty of the executive to execute them. Fewer people means the things that already take years, costing us time or lives, will take longer. Things like approval for construction projects or pharmaceuticals will take even more years with fewer people to process them."
No libertarian would ever write this. In fact some socialists might even get embarrassed. You're literally arguing that a large regulatory state won't run smoothly without a big enough bureaucracy.
Absolutely amazing.
As expected you made your argument about me, not what I said.
No I didn't. I specifically made it about what you said.
See: "You're literally arguing that a large regulatory state won't run smoothly without a big enough bureaucracy"
Bold move trying to trick everyone, but just because you're too loaded to read a couple of paragraphs on a Sunday morning, doesn't mean the rest of us are.
Let's cut the staff of the Forest Service. Then all the national parks close.
Let's fire a bunch of people at the EPA. Now they no longer issue permits.
Let's get rid of those idiots at the FDA. Now new drugs no longer get approved.
Let's sack a bunch of employees at the Social Security Administration. Now grandma doesn't get a check.
Let's empty some offices that administer Medicare. Now grandma's surgery never gets approved.
At least she won't care about parks being closed, because she's dead.
If you really want to cut back those agencies, you need to get rid of the laws that create the jobs. Not the people who fill them.
However you're too fucking stupid to see that laws are the cause and bureaucracy is the effect. Because of you have no reasoning skills, you think cutting the bureaucracy is the fix.
It's not.
Now you're fucking getting it, you socialist twat... oh wait... you think those are bad things???
Go back to Jacobin, Sarckles. You don't belong here.
Shrinking government doesn't mean firing people who work in alphabet agencies. The laws that give that agencies power are still on the books. Shrinking government means repealing laws, and I've heard zero talk about that.
I think what's really going on, and Vance basically admitted it, is that they're purging the workforce to create job openings for loyalists who will execute laws Trump's way, without question.
They're not shrinking government. Not at all. That's a blatant falsehood. They're keeping all the laws, so he can weaponize the power they give, and "be your retribution" just like he promised.
And you-know-who did it first to him. So that makes it ok.
If you haven't noticed (because you get your information from CNN) Trump's EOs have cut thousands of regulations as well. Those people have nothing to do anymore, Spascastric.
think what's really going on, and Vance basically admitted it, is that they're purging the workforce to create job openings for loyalists who will execute laws Trump's way, without question. They're not shrinking government. Not at all. That's a blatant falsehood.
That is a blatant falsehood, because even you must have noticed by now the number of agencies that have been put on the chopping block, so to say it isn't happening means you're being willfully dishonest.
Thanks for your stalwart defense of the bureaucracy though. You'll be seeing plenty of reposts of these two poorly thought out comments of yours in the next two weeks.
Regulations aren't laws. And he can't get rid of agencies without getting rid of the laws that created them. So as long as those agencies exist, those regulations are going to come back with the next Democratic administration. Everything he is doing is in vain unless the laws change.
You'll be seeing plenty of reposts of these two poorly thought out comments of yours in the next two weeks.
Good. Maybe someone with intelligence will respond.
So as long as those agencies exist
Ummm, you guys have been flipping out for the past several days over all the agencies Trump wants to get rid of.
hose regulations are going to come back with the next Democratic administration.
24 years from now? People are going to have a hard time forgetting what your party did to them from 2012 to now.
Also, the very next time you say anything about regulations I guess I'll be reminding you that tossing them is "in vain unless the laws change."
Please do. It will show how stupid, ignorant and dishonest you are.
Here's the thing you lack the mental capacity to understand. I want to see government cut back to bare bones. But a president can't do that alone. Everything one president does can be undone by the next.
To cut government, laws need to be repealed.
Those bureaucratic jobs exist to administer laws written by Congress. Firing the people in those positions doesn't eliminate the positions. The jobs still exist as long as the law exists. To get rid of the bureaucracy, the laws they administer must be eliminated. Then the jobs will no longer exist.
Fucking retard.
To cut government, laws need to be repealed.
No. You lying fuck. To cut government, cut government. And the Chief Administrator has the power to do so. That's all.
You're making rules up now because orangemanbad, and you don't want to admit what is going on is very, very good from a libertarian perspective. So very principled.
And when you repost, make sure to do so with links. That way your fellow idiots can jerk off to your personal attacks, and the non-idiots (if there are any left) can see that you've got no arguments that aren't against the person.
NOW you want links???
What was this about then? Retarded prick.

The great lengths you go to in your defense of Team Trump are just amazing. I frankly don't care, which is why I didn't click any of those links that I never saw. I just find it amusing to watch how emotional and shrill you get when you defend Team Trump.

Look at looter reactions to LP spoiler vote clout. Prohibitionist Dems were the first toppled by 4 million spoiler votes. They repealed some pot laws, deplatformed libertarians and begged help from communists. The Republicans, again sensing the LP as a future liability, got Elon to buy the party, pack it with Christian National Socialists, backstab our candidates, alienate donors and drive away non-nazi members. Instead of repealing abortin laws MAGAts treasonously attacked the vote count. https://libertariantranslator.wordpress.com/2024/11/08/by-our-fruits/
turd, the TDS-addled ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
This. Small government is the biggest loser of the Trump Era.
Huh, I thought it was the Strong [Black] Woman.
“The Prince George Métis Community Association, the UNBC Pride Centre, and Prince George School district property.”
“What are places Mother’s Lament is not allowed to be within 500 feet of?”
As a convicted pedophile, you just be an expert on such things.
Whatever you fucking traitor.
Nowhere. I'm not some angry "omnisexual" rainbow warrior like you. Retarded discount troll.
There you go lying again. You should just kill yourself you pathetic country bumpkin. I’m sure the FNMI community would appreciate it.
“The United States, a British National Party meeting, and Danielle Smith’s asshole!”
“What are Mother’s Lament’s dream vacation destinations?”
What's wrong with the US? Also, what's wrong with Danielle Smith? You idiot Nazi fuck.
The United States is great. That’s why you aren’t welcome here and why your family in Ohio needs to be deported.
*snort*
Gotta admit, that was funny.
So deportation is cool for legal immigrants but not illegals, huh? These must be those principles you're telling us about.
No, deportation is cool for your family because you're a cunt.
Strong words from an angry, perpetually drunken fry cook who liked to hit his ex-wife and was investigated by Child Protection Services for hurting his daughter.
But yeah, you want to expel the relatives of people who made you mad on the internet. That's those vaunted 'principles' of yours alright.
If the US is great, then why did you just equate it to British racists and someone's asshole?
No wonder Sarckles thinks you're witty. You sound just as clever as he does after his first weekend forty.
I didn’t equate it to the British National Party. I simply listed three places you wish you could go:
The US because you have such a hard on for us, the BNP meeting because you love Tommy Robinson, and Smith’s ASSHOLE because you have such a hard on for her.
Lol, no. You wrote a half retarded troll attempt you never actually thought through. And you still haven't explained what's wrong with Danille Smith aside from the fact she isn't a communist like all your proggy boos.
She’s a Canada hating, Trump fellating cunt just like you.
Even Nigel Farage doesn’t support your martyr Tommy Robinson you fucking Nazi sympathizer.
Just out of curiosity, why'd you go with "KARnac the Magnificent" instead of KARnac the LGBT Pedophile?
Is there some reason you're trying to intentionally deceive everyone around here?
Why do you pedos always project?
You’re the one who cares an awful lot about the sexuality and gender of school children. It’s creepy as hell, especially since you don’t have kids(or ever will).
Plus you’re the one who constantly defends religious sex abuse…
Fuck off you country bumpkin.
I care that you and your allies are so desperate to normalize the sexualization of children because you're sick depraved fucks.
I know the proven liars you follow on twitter tell you that, but that’s not the reality.
What? You MAP assholes DON'T want to fuck kids now?
You’re the one who constantly defends LDS and Roman child fuckers you lying fuck.
The only people I’ve seen mention “MAPS” are far right country bumpkins like you. It’s creepy how obsessed you all are with kids being fucked.
Because the number of pedo priests have been grossly overstated by your YouTube-tier r/atheist pals, and they don't come within lightyears of the child-sexual abuse your rainbow sex cult perpetuates.
It’s so obvious how disingenuous you are. You don’t give a shit about abuse. You just think you’ve found an acceptable way to express the same old bigotry you Bible humpers have been screaming about for decades.
A few bad apples in the LGTB crowd is not the same as the INSTITUTIONAL abuse of the Roman and LDS church. The Roman church elected a hitler youth member who personally protected abusers to lead them. They had a protocol for protecting abusers and silencing victims.
The LDS church was founded by a child fucker. They believe he’s the most important person to walk the earth other than Mormon Jesus. They have a well documented history of protecting abusers and retaliating against victims that speak out.
They recently put out a children’s pamphlet that not only whitewashes their early child fucking leaders, but encourages grooming. The message was “you must obey male priesthood holding authority figures no matter what. Even if they tell you to do something wrong.”
The fact that most of you have no problem with Matt Gaetz proves how god damn disingenuous you all are.

"you Bible humpers"
I haven't been in a church in years. But because I'm not staggeringly ignorant of the world's biggest and most common philosophies like you and your Rainbow warrior pals, I guess that makes me some sort of clergyman.
And it's not a few bad apples in your gang, you lying fuck. Fiddling with kids is present in every single aspect of your Alphabet Sex Cult religion like in no other faith. Child castration is a sacrament, and elementary school age proselytization is its great commission. Its no coincidence that your troon squad never tries to read to or dance for seniors, but always targets kids.
Who fucking cares. I'm not a Mormon. The people are nice but the doctrine is dumb as far as I'm concerned.
But you criticizing them is the height of hypocrisy. You want to fuck all sorts of people and animals in giant, creepy orgies, but them putting a ring on a threesome is somehow worse. Amazing.
“But you criticizing them is the height of hypocrisy. You want to fuck all sorts of people and animals in giant, creepy orgies, but them putting a ring on a threesome is somehow worse. Amazing.”
I don’t care about consenting adults doing whatever they want. However, they have a rampant MINOR sex abuse problem that they refuse to address. If someone points out that their god “restored polygamy” right after their founder got caught fucking a 15 year old in a barn, and that might be a contributor to their rampant child sex abuse problem, they’ll cry “Hate Speech! Bigotry!”
The Mormons and other ignorant Bible humpers like you won’t shut the fuck up about “LGTBQ are grooming kids” when they simply acknowledge who they are. There are predators in all groups but you bigots lie and say all or most LGTB people are harming kids. At the same time you constantly defend LDS and catholic sex abuse which is institutional. Both church’s fight tooth and nail against reforms, safeguards, and tougher laws to protect kids. The LDS church excommunicated a bishop because he complained about other bishops asking minors sexually explicit questions during worthiness interviews.
Not a peep about Matt Gaetz. Because you’ll look the other way for Trump fellators.
You Bible humping Trumpers don’t give a shit about kids being harmed. You’re just repackaging the same decades old bigotry.
Your whole worldview is based off of a guy dying and magically coming back to life three days later. But it’s out of bounds to criticize or try to prevent religious sex abuse because “our beliefs are sacred.”
You’re a disingenuous piece of shit and you fucking know it. If you got out of backwards Prince George every now and then you might realize your views are far, far outside mainstream American and Canadian society.
"The Mormons and other ignorant Bible humpers like you won’t shut the fuck up about “LGTBQ are grooming kids”"
Because they are. Your whole Rainbow sex cult is one big pedophiliac rape machine, and everyone on earth is rightly disgusted by you and your enablers.
I don't know a single person in an adult same sex relationship who wants anything to do with your rainbow flag crucifix equivalent and the troons who wave it, while creeping out on children.
“A gym, a library, and a vagina!”
“Where are places Jesse has never been?”
A second brain cell.
What will Karnac never have?
Also:
A reassuring visit from the police.
A sexual relationship with an adult.
A managerial position at the grocery store.
A loving parent.
An untipped fedora.
A shaven neck.
“4 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon, and 7 at night.”
“What is Sevo’s dementia medication regimen?”
Your trooning masturbation schedule?
A second brain cell.
What will the steaming pile of lefty shit karnac never understand the steaming pile of lefty shit is missing? That second brain cell. Like turd, assholes like this are not even conscious of the range of their idiocy.
Fuck off and die, shitbag.
From where I stand, it sounds like those organizations shouldn't be allowed within 500' of a school.
You must stick out like a sore thumb in Seattle?
Fuck off and die, slimy pile of lefty shit.
What will slimy piles of lefty shit never understand?
Comrade KMW touches the nub of Republican policy: "while [GOP] tax cutters demand that any legislation include deep reductions for corporations..." Artificial people are what pay tariffs and ought to pay income tax as something other than a capitation levy. But with IRS agents kicking in doors, firing shots, looting and trundling individuals not killed into courts and prisons, the trickle-up is that corporations pay less of the admittedly collectivist and un-American income tax. McKinley murdered Filipinos and Spaniards wholesale with no income tax. Why can't Trump spare individuals?
You read through this article and its ultimately that two different groups in Congress have differing priorities and its 'childish' that one group that has priorities that Ward doesn't support won't just cave and do what the group she supports wants.
That's why she loved the NRO/Bulwark crowd. Dedicated losers who reveled in the role of loyal opposition.
Your (correct) summary is why AI will never fully replicate what humans do. Unless some conservatarian programmer creates a bullshit filter.
My only complaint with the taxes group is their willingness to use reconciliation after bitching about the democrats doing it for their preferred policies.
Yeah, that era is over. Republicans are largely terrible, but they did spend decades as the gentlemanly party that respected the rules and fought with one hand behind their backs. None of it ever rubbed off on Democrats.
Then Trump (who is also largely terrible) came along and did everything they do, and the Rs realized that was an option. So now we're all living in the hyper-partisan executive order kingdom that the Ds created. Hope they enjoy the next 4 years.
Spot on analysis and i totally agree. i just lament the fact we're here.
to push through a nativist wish list, including border wall funding and stricter limits on legal immigration.
Shut up, Katherine. Neither of those things are "nativist." That's a slur you're quickly wearing out, and it's headed for the dumpster along "racist" and "sexist" and "homophobe."
They don't care anymore, Kat. You can call them deplorable garbage racist nazis all you want, you can keep adding new slurs - they're NOT LISTENING TO YOU ANYMORE.
You have surrendered your voice and your influence to your master's narrative, and you got nothing for it in return. How you don't wake up in the morning and not feel compelled to blow your brains out is amazing.
Walls, bans, and ever more draconian enforcement mechanisms don't just restrict immigration; they restrict liberty. The human cost is borne not just by migrants but by Americans who find themselves living under an ever-growing surveillance state.
Compromises. Whatever it takes to get the illegals out. They cannot be allowed to remain in America. Period.
The GOP's inability to govern effectively is both a symptom and a cause of this larger problem. Until the party figures out what Republicans stand for—beyond just winning the next news cycle—you can expect the chaos to continue.
GOP chaos is a billion times better than Democrat chaos. We've seen the effects of the latter. There's no point at all in continuing down that self-destructive path. None.
And also, don't you dare preach about "chaos" when you've been defending and encouraging the latter form of it all this time. You've gone out of your way to DEFEND chaos, mindlessly parroting its narratives in the name of brainless partisanship.
You should step down as EIC, Katherine. Your voice no longer carries any weight anywhere. You are a joke. A laughingstock with ZERO credibility.
Neither of those things are "nativist."
They are nativist. They are policies specifically designed to protect the native-born population at the expense of everyone else. That's the whole idea of your team. You don't get to have it both ways: you don't get to advocate policies that are correctly described as nativist, and then get offended when others correctly point out what you are doing.
If you don't like being called a nativist, then stop advocating for nativist things.
Poor Jeff.
Setting aside the fact that KMW is blatantly lying about stricter legal immigration rules, here's nothing nativist about secure borders, Lying Jeffy.
You know time and time again who tops polls calling for secure borders and anti-illegal entry? Legal immigrants. For decades.
And I'm pretty sure you know it, but it fucks with the narrative your paid to advance so you lie about motivation instead.
They are policies specifically designed to protect the native-born population at the expense of everyone else.
Please cite the current policies that protect native-born citizens at the expense of foreign-born citizens.
I can't argue with a single point you made, AT. I don't usually read KMW's stuff, and now I know why. Just a collection of far-left slurs and half-truths about policies that are polling at 80%. You can get away with that shit at NPR and Salon. Why you would think it could pass muster here, well. It says all you need to know about the EB at Reason.
Just so you give credit to the hateful omnibus bill thing to Pelosi. She gummed the works and that is what Trump has to work with.
Listen to an episode of Reason roundtable. The editors are smug establishment elitists. Even their tone is insufferable. KMW mostly says inconsequential bullshit and often resorts to her own word salad. The bias and terrible quality of writing here definitely comes from the top.
Maybe if you would drop the high school paper immaturity and conentrate on MONEY since you are talking about the budget
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky Says Ukraine Only Received About $75 Billion of $177 Billion in U.S. Aid
--- so, for starters, where is $102 BILLION from your hero BIDEN ?????
Just make members of Congress and the president *personally* responsible for budget deficits during their terms of office. That'll give them the right incentives.
