Brickbat: DIY EMT

Emergency dispatchers in parts of England have been told to ask some people requesting ambulance service to come to the hospital on their own. An internal memo from the West Midlands Ambulance Service directs dispatchers to ask patients with severe abdominal pain, who have fallen, or who are vomiting to bring themselves to the emergency room. It says that during periods of high demands, the dispatchers should also ask people who may be having a stroke or heart attack or have suffered major burns to come to the hospital themselves. Officials cited high demand for ambulance services and long response times as the reasons for the change.

Britain used to 'rule the waves', now they can't get grandma to the hospital.
I'm guessing you will soon be able to order a home suicide van and it will come right away with no delay.
Even when it's not ordered!
Ethnic food and MAID service in the same vehicle!
Give a man a food truck falafel and he eats for a meal. Give him a food truck falafel with a supraphysiological dose of phenobarbital and he eats for the rest of his life!
It beats having to eat eel pie.

Killing two burdens with one stone, innit. Reduced carbon emissions from ambulances and people once they've died looking for a spot at the hospital car park.
The dead shall be required to drive themselves to the morgue!
As a rule, I let my friends know that I am not to be put into an ambulance unless it is absolutely necessary. They are instructed to just drive me if necessary. This did happen once after a dek hockey incident where I ended up needing 10 stitches. My friend drove me and my car to the local hospital and it all turned out fine.
Friends don't ask friends to save their lives!
Communist emergency response is failing?
Who could've possibly predicted that repeating scenario? /s
Not like it hasn't proven to fail through time over and over and over again. How many times does it have to fail before humanity learns 'Guns' don't make rides?
Yet over in Las Vegas a one hour helicopter ride runs about $180. Contrast that to $40,000 + for 'communist' healthcare emergency rides here in the USA. Free-Markets do work.
Free-Markets do work.
1. Then why don't you believe in them?
2. It's not clear that there can be a free market for healthcare owing to the obvious asymmetries of bargaining power, etc.
1) I do believe in them.
2) There is 150-years pre 'commie' healthcare that proves it works as well as 150-years post 'commie' that proves it doesn't work.
Commi or fascist? Maybe a mix of both?
The difference is insignificant.
It's quite clear to everyone who has not swallowed the blue pill. Of course there is no such thing as a "free" market, as all social interactions on all levels exist in a complicated system with spontaneously evolved and evolving rules. What those of us who can still think realize is that "free" market means NO outside interference by government except for the minimum set of criminal laws (murder, robbery, assault, battery etc.), but I suspect you already knew that and were hoping we wouldn't notice your abuse of facts and logic.
Surprised they don't just send a hearse and cut out the middlemen.
It's a socialist system. The middlemen want their cut.
The D.C. area.
The richest area in the USA that produces absolutely NOTHING.
The "middlemen" with 'Guns' are the Top 1%.
Just a note... the NHS finally implements one tiny libertarian aspect to their healthcare system, and you guys lose your shit.
Oh? Libertarian you say? Did the STOLEN $ get returned?
But....
"Healthcare is a right!"
