Brickbat: School Days

The United Kingdom's new Labour Party government has confirmed that it will start charging a 20 percent value-added tax on private school tuition in January 2025. It promises to use the money to fund 6,500 new teachers in state school. Treasury official James Murray said the government is looking at how to address the impact this will have on "pupils with the most acute special educational needs," who depend on private schools for specialized education.

Labour is one those parties that resents anything being outside of the State, but is content with strangling such institutions to death rather than using a bullet.
"The Nazi Party, officially the National Socialist German *Workers* Party"
Something about lazy worthless P.O.S. socialists pretending to be Labourers and Workers in their naming schemes. The biggest LIE / DECEPTION is right there.
Tax the private schools (AND my private parts!) to fund the pubic schools!!! Taxing privates, funding pubics!!!!
The is PROOF that it is SNOT about "education", shit is about GOVERNMENT ALMIGHTY CONTROLLED "education"!!!! And the teachers there WILL teach your kids about just HOW wonderful Government Almighty is! ('Cause these teachers know which side of their bread is buttered.)
The same thing is done in Texas, or was, some years ago... Taxed if ye are a SECULAR private school butt not if ye are a RELIGIOUS private school, for the value of the real estate, that is, which tax does go to the pubic schools... So if ye are a SECULAR private school you should put up some window dressing and call yourself, say, the Church of ScienFoology, or maybe the Church of Take Your Taxes and Shove Them...
Church property should be taxed... at exactly the same rate as all the other property. No special taxation, no special dispensation.
Agreed! Else we have Government Almighty deciding what is, and what is not, a religion... Which is frankly impossible, realistically!
This is what makes a h*llhole. When *YOU* try competing as an individual with the [WE] mobster-gang and you get the [WE] mobster-gang of Gov-Guns at your door cleaning-out everything you've earned.
The very thing/reason the USA was suppose to be exceptional was it was based on Individualism (?rights?) having ensured Liberty and Justice for all instead of every individual trying to avoid the [WE] 'armed' mobster-gang (i.e. Chicken pecking mentality).
Punish those schools until everyone is forced into state approved indoctrination camps.
Hard to figure how they lost their empire.
Wait a couple more years and you'll be able to see it right here in the USA. Then you'll know how they lost their empire.
They are making it clear that Private Schools actually ADD VALUE over public schools.
CB
why not make the tax 500%?
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
I have heard this one before.
Probably heard it from one of the Marx Brothers. Fun fact, the Depression era Marx Brothers movies were funded by the government! WPA money via the impoverished Depression era taxpayer. Still, Groucho managed a few anarchic lobs at the state.
"Treasury official James Murray said the government is looking at how to address the impact this will have on "pupils with the most acute special educational needs," who depend on private schools for specialized education."
Which are paid for by the government, ffs. Why do you have to lie about everything?
