Brickbat: Say Your Prayers

Following numerous complaints about lengthy response times, Meigs County, Tennessee, commissioners are looking at ways to improve their emergency medical service. But EMS Director Tony Finnell doesn't seem very concerned about the issue: Chattanooga's ABC 9 reported that when he was confronted about response times by a resident at a public meeting, Finnell said, "Ma'am we're all gonna die. My suggestion to you is to get your heart right with God."

God has no problem with the hearts of blasé EMS directors.
The solution for Reasonistas is simple: create lab-grown EMS first responders that reluctantly use latest-tech battery powered ambulances funded by public-private partnerships.
Lab grown Golems? 🙂
Why lab grown? Why not AI driven EMT robots?
"Ma'am we're all gonna die. My suggestion to you is to get your heart right with God."
THIS is also why we should vote for Der TrumpfenFarter-Fuhrer, AKA TrumPutin, who will escalate trade wars and then shooting wars till we ALL die! Get right-wing with GAWD = ("Government Almighty's Wrath Delivers"), and twat is there to worry about? Don't worry, be happy!
Scienfoology Song… GAWD = Government Almighty’s Wrath Delivers
Government loves me, This I know,
For the Government tells me so,
Little ones to GAWD belong,
We are weak, but GAWD is strong!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!
GAWD does love me, yes indeed,
Keeps me safe, and gives me feed,
Shelters me from bad drugs and weed,
And gives me all that I might need!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!
DEA, CIA, KGB,
Our protectors, they will be,
FBI, TSA, and FDA,
With us, astride us, in every way!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
Yes, Guv-Mint loves me!
My Nannies tell me so!

Donald Trump just can’t stop praising Vladimir Putin
Right wing states continue acting like right wing states. At least their hearts are right with Gawd.
I call this Christian Nihilism. Expressed as the attitude that nothing we do on Earth matters, Gawd will sort it all out in the end so why bother?
Because we know His rubric for doing so.

I mean, he's not wrong. But this notion goes far, far beyond the public's dependency on government provided services.
Government fails. Constantly. God does not. Ever.
If you're going to put your faith and trust and hope in one or the other, there's an obvious choice. It's not that Finnell "isn't concerned with" the issue. It's that he knows that we have nothing to fear. Not even death. Even when it's the result of lackluster government services. (Which, incidentally, is a weird thing for Reason - and especially Brickbat - to effectively support just to take a cheap shot at God.)
Whether the government should be providing any particular service or not is obviously a valid debate. But as long as they are providing a service, I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that they at least do so as well as possible. As for God, well tithing, unlike taxes, is voluntary.
How exactly is this a cheap shot at God? It's a right-on shot at the promotion of theocracy by a State [county] actor. It's also deliciously ironic given the iron-clad pro-life politics of Tennessee.
You should probably look up the definition of "theocracy."
Pro-life is _only_ until birth. Just the other side's "DEI":
Diversity = different colors, same opinions
Equity = neither equal nor fair
Inclusion = only of the right people
Pro-life is _only_ until birth.
Well, yea. The whole idea is, "Don't kill them."
I mean, I'll take it as a reasonable assumption that it also means "Don't kill them AFTER they're born either."
Sorry, where were you trying to go with this???
